    I'm going through the Wolverhampton papers at the moment...loads of rock acts there inc Bowie and The Pretty Things.Same with Up The Junction in Crewe and The Empress Room.

That's correct. Completely different clientele on Monday nights to the rest of the week. David Bowie made an appearance there in August, 1969.

What happened to Clem Curtis?

Curtis died on 27 March 2017 at the age of 76, after a short battle with cancer. Curtis has been referred to on various occasions, informally as "The Godfather of English Soul".

Chris contributed so much over the years, YMCA record fairs, magazines, the Bear cellar soul and 60's nights. I remember buying some really good records off him over the years. Mushroom promotions was a new one to me, some big names on the flyer. Thank you for sharing.
