Just seen this in sales Shelly Fisher Girl I Love You. and it's says 1972 and a lot of reviews say the original version when Garland Greens was 1967 so how's that, ? Is it a reissue or just a second cover.

I wired up 3 speakers as left and right positive negative then the third was positive positive and when playing Garland Green Girl I Love You off the LP stereo version I got something else.

Shelley Fisher wrote "Girl I Love You" and Garland Green recorded it first for Gamma records in 1967. As you all probably know, it was then picked up by Revue records for bigger distribution release.

  • Extracts from Billboard mag (1972 & 74) ... BTW, he didn't write "Rescue Me" ...

  • talking about Jacqueline Hilliard not Shelly and I'm now only questioning her date of death.

Dalya Records wasn't around in the 60's and I believe was formed in 1972 or possibly late '71 so I would agree with the 1972 release date for Shelley Fisher's "Girl I Love You".

Jacqueline Hilliard started Dayla records in Los Angles early 1972. Shelley Fisher was the first release with "Outside Of Memphis". The flip side was a version of his own composition "Girl I Love You".

I remember the Shelley Fisher on Dayla getting some plays in the 1970's, at Blackpool Mecca's legendary Highland Room. That's where I bought my copy, but it was not a lot of money back then. I think both versions are great.

i do think Discogs has her dated incorrectly. was she really born in 1918?, and she was still ( i thought i was definite on this? but will have to find my notes, etc) alive in 1982.

BUT...everything i see wiki, etc, says b.1918 to d.1980.

gonna have to triple check!

I 'm now only questioning the date of death!

happy to be corrected though.
