Any advice from regular eBayers?

I was bidding over the weekend on a record on ebay. I had made a bid and this morning went to check progress and the item had gone. No notification that the item had been withdrawn or sold or anything.

In many years of using ebay this has never happened before. Any ideas??

Mike

Sellers have withdrawn items if they have had a good offer to sell it before auction ends or to avoid fees and sell private

On the screen shot, it looks like you're NOT "signed in" on eBay. If you sign in and then check again, there may be more to see. Perhaps look in your "recent bids" and on the "watch list" for items which have ended. Also, (not sure if it makes a difference but) sign in and check on both ebay.co.uk AND ebay.com .

No idea if that will help but Good luck!

Thanks for the tip.

Sadly logging in made no difference. Last night I was the highest bidder, which is why I checked today. Its gone. Nothing in "recently viewed", "watch list" or "bids and offers". Its as if the whole thing never happened.

Most odd.

This usually happens when the listing is old and eBay clear the old pages (obviously not the case this time).

It can also occur if the listing has breached one of their rules.

Many years ago listing something like Gwen Owens or Frank Beverly was awkward as eBay clamped down on the word "wanted". Although that glitch was sorted ages ago, there may be other words that can flag an alarm. if you know who the seller is, maybe they can shed light on it.

Good lluck.

Thanks Stevie.

Very concise.

I’d still like to know why all the evidence of its existence disappeared. I guess I’ll never know.

had a dig Mike, I read the below

firstly have you got the original item number - it may be on an email notification

if you have try putting in an url such as this - substitute your id in the number

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/336203353373

something may show

also another possible fix

if you do a search with the title as best as you can remember it and then choose 'completed items' in the 'search' options it may show something?

not tested but seems viable

I’ll have a look, thanks Mike. It’s not the end of the world, I’m just curious how things like eBay work and it was unusual.

Cheers
