Hi All can anyone tell me the last Gordy track with the scribe top center logo?

I have had a go at looking this up on a number of web sites and have found out that Gordy 7055 Temptations "beauty is only skin deep" was the first single to use the arrow design but some later numbers still bear the older design as pressing plants used all the old labels they had in stock,

I have a 7056 Martha & the Vandellas "I'm ready for love" on the old and to my eye the best ever looking Gordy label.

I think it must be hard to determine such a thing, and it's possible that some records came with the 2 labels. But I'm not a specialist...

Philippe 7055 and 7056 came out on both labels i know as i have them in my collection i was just trying to find out the last number to carry the scribed Gordy logo.

Hi the ones i intrested in and trying to collect are the east coast vinyl much better looking then the styrene, I think it's the moulded lable that as the edge over the paper styrene lable.

I'm trying to find all of them on stock copy think they would look nice on my wall from 7001 to 7056 the numbers i have are all in mint to mint- no drill holes you may think it's not a hard lable to collect till you start looking!

Remember getting that, holding it up against the arrow design & thinking the bright purple script one must be a fake, i.e. to late for the script style & I had never seen such a bright purple one before.

Was going to sell it for 50p till i eventually found out, still got it thankfully.

I was going to buy it but changed my mind, suprisingly rare, as you just dont see them too often.

The "One Way Out" - West Coast Scripted Gordy - LOOKS INCREDIBLE and is the Label to have it on, if you can find one.

I think I have only ever seen two, not too expensive but definitely not easy in my experience.

Would love to find ALL the numbers from 7057 to 7063 but after looking out for the scripted vinyl later numbers over the last few years it is not going to be a easy task but at least I know there is a good chance there out there to be found, it looks like the east coast pressing plants that worked for Gordy had load's of scripted blanks when Gordy changed to the arrow design as did the west coast.

I must be fukin nuts trying to find them all ...............

I managed to find and buy this on Ebay!

This as taken my collecting of everthing on East coast scripted Gordy way beyond anything like I was thinking of trying to find It's also made it god dam hard to have all the scripted Gordy from 7001 to 7080 east coast near impossible

Anyone have a later number?

Almost certainly the case, now you mention it.

Gotta give Levi Credit for not following this trend.

I believe that they still consider him as a Member of the Group even though he is Unable to Perform.

So Nice to see this within a Group.

Lee & The Leopards 7002 was the first release on Gordy even though the Temps first release on Gordy was 7001, this was due to it being rushed released to cope with massive demand after Prentiss Anderson (The guy with the deep voice) pulled in numerous favours by getting it played on radio immediately he was given a box of demos. In fact Motown couldn't cope with the demand so Berry Gordy did a deal with New York label Laurie to get extra copies out.

Sort Of Makes Me Wonder Who Ultimately Decided To Make The Design Change,

A Decision That Has Created These Rarities.

Regarding The V.I.P. Label.

The Basic Yellow Colour & Logo But With Subtle Differences,

With Lines, Without Lines,

Staggered V.I.P., Straight V.I.P.,

Logo At Top, Logo At Side, etc

Possibly Changed More Than Any Other Motown Related Stock Copy.

Until The Yellow Orange Design.

Wonder If It Was Printers Artistic Licence Or A Deliberate Planned Change For Reasons Long Forgotten.

Exactly my thoughts at first, then as you mention I noticed the Text deliberately Positioned to coincide with Logo, Same Position as the with New Logo.

It is a Styrene Press, Not A Monarch, Looks very similar to a ZTSC.

West Coast "JIMMY MACK" Arrived This Morning.
