As regards "Postcard Love Affair".

The album is mainly a funk album,

(called I Judge The Funk and a cheapie),

however, apart from aforementioned track

it also includes another amazing soul ballad

title escapes me now, but it´s a great tune.

I have this LP and I also have a very

soulful 45 that they did several years later

on another label.

At work now, that´s why I can´t check the details.

Was the other 45 called " Blind Over You" possibly on PLATE?

Hiya D'Arcy',

Iv'e got it on HDM 45. I think it pre-dates the "I judge the funk" stuff. One of my favourite records. Also done by the Chicago Gangsters and sampled to great effect by our own Ali some ten years ago.

Whatever happened to Ali, he was really good.

All the best Alan

Actually I now remember that I have 2 LPs by Black Ice.

Apart from I Judge The Funk, I also have the LP that includes

the wonderful "Blind Over You" that you mentioned.

The 45 I have is much more recent and sounds a lot more modern

but it´s a quality soul tune with great vocals.

Hiya Alan, couldn't remember the label for the life of me. Both versions are great, real atmospheric soul. Must dig both the LP's out and listen again.

Trust all is well mate?

Cheers

Hi DJ Melisimo, the "I judge the funk" Lp was sought after on the London rare groove scene back in the mid eighties, and that's when I first heard it I think. I'm not familiar 45 you are refering to.

Like you I love both versions. Looking for both to compere but think Black Ice will have the edge. The Ali track is really good as well. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called. I'll track that down as well.

I'm doin fine as they say. Any good Southgate photos? We were hoping for some before and after shots  .

Regards Alan
