Hello sourcers

was watching the copy of "please stay" by the ivorys finishing today.

firstly let me say without doubt an awesome record esp for any dj (floorfiller)

the listing had a sound file ,i played it and played it ,but it just scared me

background noise all the way thru :D

amazing how much it went for ,or am i behind the times??

went for just over $700, if it was the one i was looking at, awesome oldie but not sure about the condition.

This one sounds as rough as a bears arse on a frosty morning though.

it's listed as VG- so what were you expecting ?

it to go for a lot less!

he didnt need to grade it ,he kindly put a sound file up...for everyone and his dog to hear

seems a lot of money to pay for something that could even have been tweaked to sound better than it actually is IMHO.

Nowt worse than playing a great tune out in a club, to have someone tell you it sounded awful

This was a £5 record on lists in 1980, I bought a few copies and when ever I phoned it was always available! Nobody mentioned it for years, then it went crazy!! Haven't got one now!

The copies I had, all had Despenza in large block lettering, so from my point of view the script text copies seem rarer.

THERE'S THREE DESPENZA LABEL VARIATIONS AS FAR AS I'M AWARE.

1) SCRIPT DESIGN.

2) BLOCK (NARROW TALL LETTERING)

3) BLOCK (SHORTER WIDE LETTERING)

DON'T FORGET THE WAND RELEASE, SEEN A COUPLE OF ISSUES, BUT NEVER A WAND DEMO. DOES IT EXIST.

A mate of mine, who shall remain nameless.....picked up a copy on Wand recently from the US, for the princely sum of $3.50....a bargain or what......he said he's not sure whether to keep it or sell it on at the mo'....I'm off up North next month and I'll be popping over to see him and I'll be asking if I can have a look at it and hold it....the record, the record :lol: ....as I've never seen a copy on Wand let alone held one....

Calm down Steve, calm down.... :wicked: , I'll let him know anyway, he did mention auctioning it which would put it way beyond me.....so, it looks like a look is all I'm gonna be getting, better than nowt though I suppose.. :( .....

although not a dj version.

certainly becoming scarcer and deffo one of thier very best!
