After my successful trial run with local Newcastle radio station NE1FM, they've offered me a full time weekly radio show.

I'm starting officially on Sunday 18th May, then every Sunday thereafter, from 1pm to 3pm.

DJ Greedy G's Ska & Reggae Show will feature top ska, rocksteady and early reggae sounds for the first hour and then 70s roots, 80s dancehall and a smattering of top modern releases in the second hour.

There will be no modern "ragga" stuff - just good ska and reggae.

It's 102.5 fm in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area and www.ne1fm.com on the internet

I'll be taking requests at studio@ne1fm.com or on the studio hotline on 0191 240 1025

Peeps who don't bother checking me out are gonna miss out big time.

I've got some top notch guest DJs lined up for this summer to come in and do a few spots and some artists passing through the area are going to drop in for a chat. Also got some nice jingles from some well known names in the reggae biz.

This ain't no fat bloke spinning a few tunes on the internet thing, it's proper radio going out to the whole city of Newcastle and beyond and of course it's available on the net too.

I'm trying not to sound like I'm up me own bum here but I've paid my dues on the reggae scene (read reggae scene - not skinhead or scooter scene!) playing backrooms of local pubs to 10 people etc and now I've arrived

I caught the whole show - plugged the PC into the stereo - and (true to his word) Big G played 60s, 70s and 80s stuff.

Going strong and I've had mails from reggae legends to say they're tuning in.

Got a few more jingles in the works too from friends in the business.

All cos I don't wear boots n braces or fake dreadlocks I've never fit in with other white reggae fans but eff the scenes - it's about the music, not playing fancy dress!

Yeah that was a bad idea that night, it clashed with about six other nights.

I'm more experienced now though and this radio show is the real deal - going out on FM to the whole Newcastle area and all over the place on the net.

Some local promoters still treat me like a joke though. Gonna be their loss not mine!

Great listening, but why bother splitting the tunes up into decades ? Why has it gotta be 60s for an hour - then current and 70s tracks?

Why not mix up the whole spectrum right from the start for 2 hours?

The soul scene is fond of splitting the decades up for the convenience of the DJs - but you only end up with a fragmented fan club!

Its a local Radio thing......... so there are no rules !

Just the way I do things I guess mate.

It's to give casual fans an insight into how the styles evolved too.

I'm going to be having an hour of modern ska this coming Sunday and last Sunday I played an hour of dub (just for Smiffy lol).
