OUR SIDE OF THE STORY.......

we were in fact waiting for something like this to kick off........ I have been trying to avoid politics but i have had enough now................

first of all 'The FED' & 'Bugmans' are co run by my brother and Gary Wall.... who has forbidden DJ's who DJ for him from DJ ing at The 'BRIT'.................

secondly I did not remove any flyers from Soulville....... we had prior permission from the manageress to leave our flyers and take Soulville fliers to put out at our venue.......

thirdly had i been playing childish games would i not have taken New SOUL VOICE FLIERS with John Heaney n Gary Wall resident DJ ing which is on the same night as TRANDY SOUL CLUB which may i also point out is a stones throw away from our venue................ THINK ABOUT IT..............

forthly we look out for other venues and try not to clash.........we attend venues all over and see hundreds of fliers including the above mentioned............none removed......... taken etc..............

and finally whilst working at one of the co run venues I saw one of the promotors take fliers left by another promotor rip them in half and put them in the bin ..............

WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN 'SET UP' TO TRY AND RUIN OUR VENUE......we have since been informed Soulville is actually run by one of the aboves close friend ...............NICE TOUCH........... think we may have a good case for COURT......

Thinking is it all worth it ?????????

The whole notts scene has gone tits up and needs a good shake. Its tired and boring IMO and as ive said before this is one of my reasons for staying away from venues. The reason im supporting the Brit is for one reason..THE MUSIC as i feel im going to hear some decent stuff,might not be everyones cuppa but im going down there to have a good time as i feel that i will.

Some people on here from notts and surrounding areas should remember that alot of you used to call places like the Union,Awsworth etc.....yes you remember,,,"not going there its crap...all that rare shit.dont know any of the music " etc you are now dancing to that "Rare shit"

you say "is it worth it" yes it is cos at the end of the day you are going to be doing some thing that the notts scene needs..good soul music again.

If people feel threatened by what you are doing then they should change what they are doing and have a wider music policy or just sod off and let you get on with it

we have to work our nuts off down here in bristol to get people out to soul nites,as soon as one nite is done were plugging the next...but we dont get none of this between promoters/djs....at times i wish i was living somewhere with a bigger soul crowd but then again if this sort of thing goes on maybe not.....i'll stick to the mild mild west...as banksy put it !

I went to one soul night about 5years ago, when I went in I asked the lady the promoters wife, on the door do you mind if I put a few flyers out for a local nighter,any way I started to do the rounds and the next thing the promoter asked what the hell was I was doing, he was very snotty I told him it was a local nighter flyer,I said do want me go around and collect them all up again,he said dont bother now. THE MAN IS A TOTAL TW*T.

4TH ABOUT THE NEW VOICE SOUL CLUB,THIS IS A FREINDS DO THAT THEY ARE STARTING UP, GAIL AND JULIAN, NOW IF YOU LOOK ON EVENTS YOU WILL SEE I'M NOT ON THE DJ LINE UP,YES I WAS PUT ON THERE FLYER,BUT WHEN I SEEN THE DATE I SAID NO TO DOING IT BECAUSE OF THIS REASON, CLASHING WITH YOU, AND LET ME ALSO SAY TO YOU ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME NOR MALC DISPITE WHAT YOU MIGHT THINK.

5TH. NOW I NO YOU NO THIS IS THE TRUTH ABOUT US PUTTING A PROMERS FLYERS IN THE BIN BECAUSE YOU WAS THERE ON THAT NIGHT, AND WHY WAS THIS ! A VENUE WAS TAKEN FROM UNDER OUR FEET WHICH WAS 6 STREETS AWAY FROM THE FED, AND THEN THE PROMOER PLACED THERE FLYERS IN OUR VENUE. I THINK ANYONE WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME !! ANYWAY THATS ALL WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE NOW, ALL SORTED !!

I blame the smoking ban, l always knew politics on the scene existed, but not to the extent l thought until l had to start going outside for a clggie, now lm afraid l cant but help voice my opinion as to the slow decline of the soul scene, and l must agree l think its a case of wots already been said, and something l said to Shute (stafford rangers promoter) a few days ago, and thats there are too many cheifs and no t enough indians, l cant really say wot l want in a public forum because l think ld get hung for it, but somethings gotta give, l might PM you with my thoughts and feelings, my guess is there are 100's of us long service soulies who just think arses to it cus nobodys listening to the people that matter,,,,the punters and how about doing something to encourage the younger generations.
