Looking to try and get one of these - not keen on the flip - but the "I can't wait" side is really doing it for me right now.

what's a reasonable price nowadays?

Can do you a good un for £120 inc p/p uk

prefer Pat Thomas on verve, and it's only about £50.

can be anywhere between 75 to 150ukp.incidentally my fave version is the spyder

turner lp track using the same backing as the monticellos but with a better vocal

IMHO. although its just a good tune anyway

I believe that the Monticellos are the Fabulous Peps recording under an alias - can some Detroit-obsessed sourcer either confirm this or disabuse me of the notion?

Not much to choose between theirs and Spyder's version IMO - they're both great!

I also like - beside the obvious ones - Dee Dee Warwick's version very much...

Seem to recall the versions of this being discussed about 5 years ago ?, i think it's one of those songs that even if the Pincher brothers sang it.then i'd want to buy it, laugh.gif such a great tune, for me though it's Baby Washington, and doesn't Aretha do a banging version ?

We haven't mentioned Dusty Springfield's fab version yet, either - which she learned from Baby Washington's record, incidentally.

In fact, the only version I've heard that doesn't grab me totally is Songi Clay's - she just doesn't sing it as well as anyone else who's recorded it. Sorry to whoever was raving about it earlier up the thread, but she's just not up to the song ....

the dontells version is better than the monticellos in my opinion

Peps? Are you sure about this Tony? Clay McMurray never mention this when I was speaking to him in Prestatyn, he told me that he designed the REDCAP label logo while in College and the label had 4 releases, I only know 3 though. He was 17 yrs old at the time, Samon & Deliah was a hit of sorts being picked up by ABC. I had a copy of the Monticellos in my hand when he asked me did I know who designed the label, with a big smile on his face.

Also in it's favour, the Moticellos has a great flip side
It's the same as Spyder Turner if I remember rightly Dave.

No, I'm not "sure about this", which is why I said "I believe that..." and asked if anyone could confirm or deny this absolutely for me!

I'm only basing what I believe on what my ears are telling me. Joe Harris is definitely singing on the record, his voice is so immediately recognisable that you can't miss him whoever he's singing for or with...

I'm actually trying to license this track for an upcoming Ace compilation so if Mr. McMurray ever gets back to me I will ask him myself!
