This is bizare, I bought this in the USA. When it arrived I immediately went "Archer" hunting but that's not on the dead wax run-out. I have seen those 70Ts boots, big chunky vinyl, its not one them and those late 80Ts shiny, shiny viny, not that either. Does have strange marking in run-out like a W on top of an M with an E next to it

I will try to help further, however to my knowledge the copy I have isn't an Original.

Having said that I will dig it out and check exactly which copy it is.

I tend to play the Googa-Mooga Copy, my Ashford copy is amongst known BOOTs & Counterfeits in a Record Box.

Considering the source of my copy I would be Shocked if it was Original.

As you know, If I had an Original I would have provided the relevant scans.

The small archer stamped copy has the three W design faintly in the run out groove, like the copy you have just bought that is not archer stamped. Both have the same look and feel about them, so much so I think they came from the same source. The small archer copies where always considered right by most dealers and at least legit 2nd issue by Mr Manship. Now that is all in doubt as lately John Manship has been saying only a large Archer stamped copy is original and everything else is a New York bootleg.

A lot of look-a-like second issue/represses appeared on Soul Bowl in the 70's. They where not billed/sold as originals but seemed to be legit 2nd issues, made for the Northern Soul scene demand, by the original label owners. Ashfords without the large Archer stamps could have been repressed this way!?

Note: Other records with large Archer stamps have these three W's faintly in the run-outs, check original Bari Track on Sound Impression for instance, or blue Westbounds.

Was reissued about 3 yrs ago as a exact replica not saying thats what you have, and dont know if it was a legal release but there was lots on ebay at the time. I sold one about 2 months back for about £25.

I am sure this could help, newer plastic records hold static or collect more static electricity than old vinyl or styrene. Tin foil is a good indicator of this, very light and sticks to any charge just a few inches square is ok.
