Just listening to Derek & Ray's 'Interplay', imho this is proper Northern that was made to be blasted out the speakers in dancehalls at weekends, i fear this sorta tune is frowned upon nowadays, the same as things like Andre Brasseur's 'The kid' are.

However i played 'The kid' out the other day to a 6ts/Studenty style audience & their faces lit up when i played this and you could see their energy levels visibly grow.

Discuss if you wish, quite intrigued to hear people's views, i know some people will say these aren't Soul records but i'd rather hear them played out than a dreary plodder like say 'Ordinary Joe'.

Yes Interplay was a big tune for when i was in my teens but i don't need to ever ever hear it out again now :unsure: .. Never heard it many a moon till i got the soundfile hear... My god, we danced to any old shite... :lol:

This was the first ever record I bought from "Phil's Records" in Stafford!!! Cost me about £1.50 I think .... lot of money in those days :lol: Still love hearing it but only if it's once every year :unsure:
