Just read Dave Moore's thread in Events Lookback about Mel Britt.

I'm a bit confused........where and when was this gathering with Mel Britt present?

Anyway, reading about Mel Britt on Dave's thread got me thinking.

One of the nicest looking labels (IMHO) is the yellow and blue FIP label of Mel Britt's She'll Come Running Back.

That song is the only record I've ever seen on this label.

Are there other NS/soul tunes on this label?

Lennie Satin - Somebody Help Me / Homebound

IMO it sounds quite sounthern even though its from Chicago.

I'll post up a scan tonight, unless someone does it before me.

Both sides of the Lennie Satin 45 are pretty good in their own right. The label is red with a white logo, black type and is pressed on vinyl. I haven't seen one for sale for quite a while, but it's well worth picking up if you like early 70s Chicago soul.

By the way, I met the label owner of this label once (sort of accidentally), the label is actually Fipi and not Fip and he pronounced it "fippi". Fipi publishing is on some other records (like the specials on satch) but he didn't remember those releases, only the released on his label. I think those 2 45s are the only ones on the label.

You thieving **** . No, I don't mind you taking scans off my site....one of the nice things about doing my sales on there for the last few years is I now have a library of well over 2,000 label scans. Be even better if I can get the site fixed in the near future .

Pretty sure I've still got that 45, don't remember selling it so must be here somewhere.

Copies of Lennie Satin often turned up on Soul Bowl lists, (not usually in the "Northern Rarities" section though).
