  2. from the depths of the site articles section... Otis Clay - Notes taken from a dutch 80/90s album Otis Clay Although he was on the brink of nationwide stardom in 1972 while on the same Memphis based Hi label that launched Al Green, Otis inexplicably never reached the same heights thatGreen did. But with his driving seven-piece band {featuring the unparalleled Chicago Fire horn section), Clay continues to epitomize the very finest in raw, emotionally supercharged soul.Like so many of his contemporaries, Otis Clay found his early inspiration in the gospel music he heard around his Waxhaw, Mississippi birthplace. His initial appearance on wax came as lead vocalist of the Gospel Songbirds, one of many such aggregations he joined after he moved to Chicago in 1957. But the secular scene beckoned, and after an unissued session for Columbia, Otis signed with Chicago's One-der-ful Records in 1965. Often working with writer-producers Jimmy Jones and Eddie Silvers, Clay debuted with an intense soul ballad, "A Flame In Your Heart," and solidified his reputation with brisk sellers such as "I'm Satisfied," Cash McCall's "That's How It Is" and the hard-charging "Got To Find A Way." Otis switched to the Atlantic Records combine in mid-'68, inaugurating their Cotillion subsidiary with a Rick Hall-produced Muscle Shoals cover of the Sir Douglas Quintet's "She's About A Mover," eventually cutting three more singles for the firm. full article here https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-articles/otis-clay-notes-r276

  8. Paul can you have a read of the submitting news post here at moment we have two debbie taylor threads running and to blunt there is no real need for this if you do use the articles feature not only does it get posted upon the front page but a forum thread is auto- started as well, the news article gets picked up/posted via twitter, facebook, google plus and various other feeds and search engines result members get one thread to follow members other threads dont get pushed down by similar threads your news gets more exposure everyone a winner
  9. ask all members to try and make sure that they read this and understand this policy if not sure or do have any questions then please post them up in the members forum thanks mike

follow on posts are a perfect example why members should drop the attempts to tell others what to post now going down the road of discussion on the actual thread not the actual subject temp closing it for 30 mins when it reopens ask ALL to keep discussion to the actual subject and not the actual thread thanks mike
  17. Mike replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
the only "hiccups" are when members try to dictate to other members what should be posted on here people are entitled to post their view if you read the posts you will see that people have posted their views on his productions and the world hasn't caved in the thread is/was ticking along members jumping on other members will just lead to "yet another il slugfest"
  18. Mike replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
no its not lets drop this greet every crtical comment with a "wannabe" mod type post people have and will post their own view a forced "back slapping" thread is just as bad as any percieved "slugfest" all just say what you want and keep it within terms of use and the scope of the thread
  19. good pass on have you got (or a link to) the other European dates
  20. take your pick decent imo example of the influences 60s black music has on some current day semi-mainstream acts a just throw it up as remembered someone mentioned the other one just a buckshee thread where been posting stuff that trip over
