Hello, looking for the above. If you have one and are happy to sell, let me know condition and price, either by PM or 07766 238410. I will reply to all, but do work all hours so may not be immediate. Thanks, Dale- How Far Would You Go? Journeys To Events
Got to agree with you there Roddy. I always take my hat off to the Aberdeen soulies - they have a hell of a treck wherever they go - even when staying in Scotland!!- Prestatyn Weekender 2014 - Spyder Turner confirmed
I was a) impressed by the quality of his voice and vocals at Souldham- he sounded great and b) equally shocked that he was doing "soul man" and "mustang Sally" covers at the expense of his own tracks. I've never made it to Prestatyn, and would like to see him do what I (rightfully??) expected him to do at Souldham.- Favourite Dance Floor In The Uk Current Venues

Keith Grainger was my boss in my first job - he was Head Chef and I was a commis chef. He gave me a right rough ride for my first few days. All day there was a radio on the kitchen window playing radio One. After a few days I plucked up the courage to ask if it was ok if I brought some cassettes to listen to instead of radio One. He said it was ok, and when I brought tapes in with Northern on, my life got suddenly easier!! The Sous Chef was nearer my age, and he was into Soul as well. Last time I saw Keith was maybe 1989 (?) and he was chef at the Agar Arms. Don't know if he's still in York.- 216

- Betty Lavette, Blind Boys Of Alabama And Mavis Staples
Glasgow's "Celtic Connections" has just announced it's line up for January 2011 and includes Betty Lavette appearing with the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Mavis Staples pairing up with Dougie Maclean. Seen some good (non soulful) stuff at Celtic Connections over the years - but really looking forward to these two. If I wasn't a technological pygmy, I would have put up a link to the site, but I'm sure you can google. Cheers. Dale- Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
Anyone in the Glasgow area - it's getting a showing at Glasgow Film Theatre on Friday night - 11pm. Advertised as a "preview showing" on the GFT's listing page, its just a one off showing. Dale- Melvin Brown
Don't know if this is of interest - "The Gospel at Colonus" is on at the Playhouse for the Festival too. Don't know if it will be everyones cup of tea - a Gospel take on Opera, but the fact that it features the Blind Boys of Alabama might make it worthwhile! I'm not going to get there because of work, unfortunately. www.eif.co.uk/colonus Dale- Candi Staton.. Live In Manchester.. Mon/ Tue
I'm just in from seeing her Edinburgh show. Thought she was great, loved the rambling intro to "Rather be an Old Man's Sweetheart" and was chuffed that she did "Upper Hand" for "all the Northern Soulers who've been asking me to sing this song on Facebook". A great show all in all, no Pink Stetsons but I've had more than my share of Blue WKD's spilled on me tonight by very drunk young girls who knew only one line of "Young Hearts Run Free"! On the up side, my missus said that because the female backing singer was so gorgeous, she'd let me off drooling over her all night! - Looking For Sebastian Williams - Too Much On Sound Of Soul
