Here you are. Whoever put this one on You Tube put it on as Mad Dog and the Pups instead of the Soulful Hounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz7udFjj93I
  2. I know Ian Levine said he didn't want to be part of it unless it was actually at the Mecca which, of course, is impossible. I'm also aware of Les Cokell's demise and the sad state of Tony Jebb's health. I'm not really in favour of trying to recapture anything from the past as it's an impossible task. Anniversaries are fine if the club is still open (i.e. the 100 Club) but rather pointless if it has been shut and subsequently demolished for over 30 years. Also dressing up like you did 40 years ago when you're in your 50s or 60s is also rather sad. I remember laughing at the Teds when they had their revival in the mid 70s and they were only dressing up like they did 20 years before!
  3. Or indeed Les Cokell and Tony Jebb.....
  4. Another one by Slave from the same time.
  5. Great tune. How about seeing the Great Man himself conducting?
  6. Came off the LP 'Turn This Mutha Out' by Idris Muhammad on Creed Taylor's Kudu label. UK release date 1977 - not long after the US release. Great sound.
  7. Version by Gloria Gaynor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVb_wGuW2R4
  8. Though slightly off the original topic, looking at this old record player raised an interesting question - what on earth was the 16 rpm switch on the dial for? The other three speeds are obvious but I've never seen a 16 rpm record. A quick 'Google' search revealed this : https://jake0147.tripod.com/id4.html Just thought you might be interested.
  9. Managed to get pictures of these two on holiday in South Africa.
  10. The wonderful Four Tops - Ask The Lonely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGqBWjMmVps
  11. Your main room ones really bring back memories of what it was like. Thanks for posting them. Sadly the few I made have long gone (and were poor quality anyway as my cassette recorder wasn't very good).
  12. Someone's posted a link to the podcast on the 'Northern Soul' Facebook page which has 51000 'likes' so I guess a lot will have come from there. The quality is brilliant on the tape but the atmosphere is so much better on the Main Room tapes.
  13. Heard my first cuckoo (and only so far) of the year on Thursday at Whixall Moss just South of Whitchurch.
  14. Usually have a lot of swifts in Wrockwardine (near Telford) - there are some but the numbers are a bit down. Plenty of house martins and swallows here though.
  15. An Emperor Moth caterpillar taken on the Isle of Mull.
  16. Sorry I couldn't tell you as I just took the picture whilst on holiday there.
  17. Proud parents - taken last year at Flatford Mill, Suffolk.
  18. Just identified it as an Imperial White butterfly.
  19. I think it's a Harlequin Beetle. There were literally hundreds of them about at Christmas when I took the picture. Shame about the leg though!
  20. A very colourful and unusual beetle also on a trip to Australia.
  21. A rather nice butterfly I saw on a recent trip to Australia.
  22. Later popularised in the early 70s by The Temprees.
