Postal Delays Due To Bad Weather
Yeah thats what i was thinking, just skimming off the top of the pile at the moment. I am sure everything will turn up in the end, and I am a very patient guy. It's just a bit annoying when you see everyone getting around and going to work. But no postal workers !!!!!!!

Postal Delays Due To Bad Weather
I am waiting for items that were posted on the 25th from the States still not arrived, but yet, I have received one today that was posted on the 30th. I also have about another six items posted to me from UK over ten days ago. The postman has made no attempt to get to us for at least 10 days and the few things that are now getting through are mainly the junk mail items that go straight in the bin. Admitedly we are in one of the worst hit areas (South Yorkshire) but if I can get my Wife's car Daughters car plus myself up the road why cant the Royal mail get a van down, tried ringing the local office but it goes straight to a message... Rant over......for now.....

R&b Up To Present Tunes
I love anything that has a soulfull element, I love 50s doo wop and just can't get enough of it, R&B, deep soul, northern, when I feel like a change it can be anything from opera, classical, rock. Big turn off for me is the big stadium type rock bands who have an overblown sense of their own importance.

Removing Lots Of Tape Residue From Vinyl 45
"Surgical spirit" available from your local chemist shop, will remove most sticky stuff, dont know how the vinyl will react to it though. I would test it first on a record your not bothered about.

Book Recommendations Sought
Berry Gordy's (autobiography) To be loved is essential reading. Quite a bit about the early years of Motown. Just come back from holiday and took with me Peter Guralnick's - Dream Boogie the triumph of Sam Cooke a bit hard going in some of its 740 pages but a fascinating insight in to the roots of soul music, as well as the man himself, thourougly recommended ! Sound of the city is still a must and will provide you with info about labels and key personel and explains the regional developments of the early years of rock n roll and rhythm & blues as well as Soul.

Good Old Record Shops
Seem to remember a "Vallances" in Sheffield on Chapel walk, around the mid seventies, one of the last record shops that I can remember having listening booths.

Good to hear the opinion that they are all legit, but i was hoping someone could maybe dig a bit deeper, i.e. West coast/East coast or regional issues, or were there 1st/2nd issues. I have had my yellow and red issue since early 70s and thought at the time it was the original, I got the plain orange label only a few years ago thinking that could be a first issue.......and then theres the black and silver..... Any more anorak wearers out there that can help me
