  2. There was a "Yogie Bear Scooter Club" late 50's/early 60's maybe connected maybe not?
  3. I Bought the original James Bynum CD off Poke some years ago, and sold it to Chris Dalton just a few years back which i regret, we all do foolish things in our lifetime, that was just one of mine
  4. Thanks for that., makes sense now
  5. Just played through tracks on KENT CD on Simply Soul site and it states that Try Something New and It's No Mistake (amongst others) were Unreleased, Is That True as i have an issue U S Issue copy ON CROSS-OVER 980, Or are the versions on the CD different recordings to 7" ? Not read any sleeve notes on it, any one have a copy shed some light Please, Ta Much
  6. Just seen this and can't get my head round it, been reduced to tears, have'nt seen Gary for a while now but have fond memmories of the times i have spent with him over the years from the Cleethorpes days and behind the decks at the Canal Tavern (both Simply Soul and Rods Voices) and the Hull venues and countless other Soul Nites we played at, it's a sad sad day for soul music because he contributed so much to it and was a lovely person with it, my thoughts go out to you Piddy and all the Family/Friends that are countless, R.I.P. Gary "Loved And Missed By All Who Met You" Rick
  7. All these years and didn't know that, over to you then Ian
  8. Rod Dearlove who is on here may be able to help you with your answers but i believe the full lp was never made available and the copy Rod found and may still own was one side of the album as you rightly say was a monarch lp test pressing, the test press may have included "I AIN'T PLAYIN'" "I'VE BEEN THINKING" Don't think the other side of the lp test press ever showed up and i do know that Rod put a hell of a lot of effort into trying to locate Sy Hightower.
  9. Hi Dave, defo not me that bought come on train for that price, i think it was maybe John Manship or John Vincent who paid that money for it then a couple of weeks later a few original copies turned up in small numbers,my brain cells not much better it has to be said lol, yea, great memories of fabulous nites chattiing with the likes of Dave Godin who loved "Cleethorpes" and had the utmost respect for Mary for what she achieved and for the DJ's for their taste in music, Mary and Colin, the Girls in the kiosk,The DJs and the Fans, "One Big Happy Family"
  10. Got mine off John on one of my record buying visits at "Soul Bowl" So i would think Pier All Niter was first place of play,Great record even now, Always classed as weird but wonderful back then, Remember "Poke" dropping "Stop this merry go round" By "Black Haze Express" now that caused a stir, what a weird and wonderful record that is, written by Sam Dees if my memmory serves me right, and he nearly lost his job for playing it lol, still class, love it, Rick
  11. Hi Pep, What can i say, A wonderful tribute for a wonderful Lady,We spent wonderful times together as friends/co DJ's at Cleethorpes and Helen was a lovely lady to talk to, ALWAYS had time for you, Sad Sad time for you and all that were privlileged to know her, thinking about you at this time and thankyou for that wonderful post, it said it all, Rick.

  17. Just having a flick through some of my UK albums and reading some of the sleve notes and noticed on the "Johnny Johnson and the Bandwagon (Direction 1968) his name as in the band line up along with Terry Lewis,Billy Bradley and of course Florida born Johnny Johnson, now i have two questions here for you, is this Arti Fullilove as in the single "Santa Clause" (Please Listen To Me) ? and Who did the other version of the track on this album called Are You Ready For This ? I have the dam thing tucked away some where on a 7" as i used to play it (donkeys years ago) but can i hell aslike remember who it was by, Writen by J. Ross/M.Barkam/R.Adams Going bloody senile in my old age, not to be confussed with the Brothers song, different song altogether.
  18. good to see him back but have to say was expecting just a bit more from the man..........
  19. This will fill dance floors but one of those songs most will quickly tire of, like after 2mins lol, wish i had a fiver for every time he sings "share my love!" sorry not for me,just doesn't seem to go anywhere :o(
  20. I have a copy of this, labels on my copy correct. Price? well i would not sell mine for that price. Would think that price is based on the last time Manship had one up for sale, never seen it come up for sale/listed since i bought mine off Gary S (Blacknight Records) back in the 90's, Very rare on a 7" Think last time i had someone try to get me to sell it was a member on here, Boba i think it was, Both sides are excelent by the way, very big for me at Canal Tavern Thorne when Rod Dearlove ran the place, Superb Nites,Rick
  21. Got my copy (LP) off John Anderson (Lyyn discory/Soul Bowl) My first recolections playing it Out "soul scene" Scunthorpe and of course Cleethorpes Pier/Winter Gardens, Still play it to this day, wonderful record and a Cleethorpes Classic!
