Yeah and they take hundreds (if not thousands) of years to decompose too, Chris, mate

    Is this any good, Chris?
  4. All orange releases indeed, RR - and of the same quality as the Haunted House set from late 2006 - IMO a little disappointing.
  5. This one was slated as a Sanctuary release that never made it, due to the takeover, Pete - it still has Sanctuary details all over it. I got my copy from Juno.co.uk, prior to its release, much to the bemusement of Laurence C-H and Mike de K who both thought I'd got a boot, since they were under they impression it wasn't being released for a few weeks yet...
  6. Thanks for the update, uplandmod
  7. I wasn't an especial fan of the Specials - they made some decent Pop songs and enlightened some of the youth to proper Ska and Reggae (as other 2-Tone and related bands did)...
  9. Thanks, Gordon mate. safely downloaed, but I haven't listened yet...
  10. I think Chicken Shack's version is fine - it's a Blues-edged Pop song that works really well IMHO. Fugi's (Ellington Jordan et al) version was released in '68 I think, though I don't know when it was recorded. Thanks for the reponses folks
  11. The writer's version of (one of) Etta James' classic tunes...rumour has it (but I'd happily stand corrected) that although this was released after EJ's, it was actually recorded before, but Chess hadn't released it yet, then along came Etta Can anyone advise/confirm/correct? Many thanks (is this one for Rouncey?) https://media.putfile.com/Fugi---ID-RATHER-BE-A-BLIND-MAN The B side (SAVE A LITTLE) isn't bad: https://media.putfile.com/Fugi---SAVE-A-LITTLE Both tunes at the Blues end of Soul Here's the label scan: ...and an "article" that appeared in issue 71 of Blues & Soul (Nov 5-18 1971) - reproduced without permission...
  12. ...or indeed, Koeln ...or K¶ln ...or even K¶lle am Rhing... I'll get me coat!!!
  13. Bobby Hebb - LOVE LOVE LOVE
  14. Perhaps a different set of Administrators, then...?
  15. The only Administrators' tunes I have are SHE'S MY LADY (a nice Lovers tune) from 1988 and EMERGENCY (I can't remember) from 1990 - neither are Ska
  16. Thanks Matt Grabbed (from the original link) and am having a quick listen here IN MY LONELY (Hotel) ROOM... Tom Brock - a handsome start... Will listen properly later...
  17. ...just seen (for the first time) the ad on Channel 4 - handsome tune

Thanks, Salv - I know several of the tunes and will check this edition out
  19. Something like Felix cat food used a Northern Soul tune a few years back - it was the ad that was essentially a cartoon. ...and not quite Northern, but Jackie Wilson's NO PITY IN THE NAKED CITY was used on an Audi advert in the UK probably around 15 years back...
  20. I don't care for any version of the old Peggy Lee "standard" FEVER (Little Willie John) - whether it's her version, Jazz-Funk (Ronnie Laws), Latin (La Lupe), Reggae (Keith 'Junior' Byles or Susan Cadogan) or indeed, LWJ's original I don't know why. On the Northern side, the first tune that springs to mind which has me reaching for the switch is Don Thomas's COME ON TRAIN
  21. Looks like I was thinking of the wrong album... Tracklisting here... https://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk/releases/?id=204
  22. ...and of course, a white label (or blank) was cheaper to produce than labels with 2- or 3-colour artwork, so "official" releases may also have had nothing on the label, other than hand-written info...

I meant to ask if you have a track listing...? It doesn't seem to be on the magazine's website
