Videoing at events.
Is it ??..must admit to not seeing much 'videoing'..but then I ;m not looking for it. I suppose its the heightened love of the social..nowadays... matching or even overtaking the love of the music I'm still not sure it's 'cool' seeing granny and grandad cavorting at the local WMC ...... but hey maybe there are other reasons..

Exactly mate...another 4 pages of incoherent points of view. If any 'new blood' is to be attracted to the scene..then threads like this aint gonna help. If you're gonna DJ..just play originals.. DONT play boots...develop your personal philosophy and stick to it For a lot of us its only a hobby ...and for a lot of us it really isn't that difficult

Yes I know..but isn't it going off track a bit...vibe/ambience can be created with original records ..it isn't the exclusive domain of other formats surely ...and we talking Northern/Rare soul events here...

Yep..like second hand cars....BUT correct me if I'm wrong but I think you may have got the wrong end of the stick on this thread..you seem to equate OVO with the cost of a record...that really isn't the point..maybe start another thread on the cost of records..am sure it would provoke some debate ..

You can bring out all the OVO stuff you like, but if no one gets up on the floor, Could you please tell me how playing OVO would stop people from getting on the dancefloor...are you confusing OVO with only being rare and underplayed ??...genuine question

Exactly mate...shame its come to this....but at least it differentiates....and the customer can make the choice Customer Guarantee : As you are aware..recent events have highlighted the illegal manufacture and distribution of 'bootleg' records We feel it incumbent upon us to offer you ..the customer ..our pledge On the evening...if any of our Collector/Dj's are seen/heard to play bootleg records then we will unequivocally refund your entrance fee forthwith. We feel strongly that you, the paying customer, can attend, enjoy and participate.. confident and safe in the knowledge that bootlegs will NOT be played Thanks for your understanding in this matter. Enjoy !!

Lets put it another way....lets say we've got a magic wand and we could wave it at all the bootleg/reissue type events and they were no more...would the scene suffer?? Would the paying punter feel short changed..I suspect the answer would be NO Those that want to hear their faves all night..could do...Those that like to hear original records played..could do....Those that wanna hear something a bit different ..could do I can't see anything really positive about supporting bootleg/re issue nights.....after all there is an original of a record out there somewhere if you ..just look

I remember that 'era' as well and you're quite right in what you're saying for the most part.....However a LOT has happened since then, people have developed 'styles' of music they like, people have developed into collectors. in short now we are in 2019.. the scene has evolved and is still evolving (some may not like it I agree)...If the 'nostalgic model' you describe from the early to mid 70's was followed religiously, we'd all end up 70's stereotypes............but the important point I'm making is that in 2019....things have changed...not least we're adults now....we have opinions..we make choices YES it IS what's in the groove that counts !! BUT is it so 'anti-social..is it so wrong that some people choose to hear 'that groove; coming from an original record..its still the same sound....
