  1. ..the history of black music is littered with the demise of singers under tragic circumstances..DB was just another..i often wondered as a kid (when i first appreciated Otis Redding) what would have happened to Otis' career? (ironically shared same label)..would he have managed to adapt to a new style of soul..doubtful as OR success was due much to his power and vocal delivery..most had their time in the the spotlight ..some brief..which is why they are so revered now..

  12. a mid seventies (74/75) spin was 'new jack theme'- Centuries...it was a Sheffield exclusive i think in that i only ever heard it played by John Vincent..not even the Casino had it..very fast and furious i seem to remember it was covered as the Gladiators 'that Miami sound'..

  19. early to late 74 i have it on a tape from April ..interestingly KR is playing it..maybe Richards copy..took me a while to figure the artist/title and even longer to track a copy down..it goes on a bit..could stand a remix..
  20. i remember Dean Parrish as a play late 73 early 74..i did post a topic asking when russ played DP as an ender..then i remember it became two last records..then finally 3 before 8...but i cant remember the dates to the chronology of the records..

  24. ...do all the originals jump?..and if so were tone arms weighted when DJ's played them..I ask because i have somewhere a tape from Cleethorpes winter gdns 1975 i think ..Sam introduces the 45 as 'the only place thats got it' i assume he was the first DJ to own/play it and i cant remember it jumping on the tape..so was it a first press with weighted arm or second press?..just curious...
