  1. Totally justified.
  2. Are you calling me a vernacular masturbator then. I've been called some things.....
  3. Dick Hebdige was my sociology lecturer when I was at college in Walsall '80 - '83. Great bloke who was always interested in talking about Northern Soul, Reggae, clothes and fashion etc. He was quite an inspirational character for me at that time in that he always understood the importance of Northern soul as a youth underground phenomenon, as opposed to how any of my mainstream contemporaries viewed it.
  4. That's a good post Mixercorsa.

    Anybody got one for me?

Anyone got a copy of Elois Scott - 'Broadway Love' for me. I missed a copy on Ebay last night. Thanks. Jordi
  7. I'm more shocked that John is obviously putting Kronenberg lager on his cornflakes.
  8. Yeah, it'll be another excuse to trot out the clip of Jagger and Bowie hamming it up with their version.
  9. You'll need to flip it over for this beauty.
  10. Course I did Ian, I had the picture of the 45 in my mind as I was typing.
  11. I reckon the Tomangoes would take some beating for all out intensity in the confines of a small studio. Witnessing Steve Karmen sing Breakaway would have been cool as well.

The seller's being completely straight though, no deception, it's just the dimbulb bidders who are the idiots here. I wonder what I'd get for my gold styrene boot.

But will any 'kids' watch the One Show? Would anyone of any age actually think anything could be classed as 'cool' that is featured on that show? It's not exactly known as a barometer of what's hip and happening is it.

I wouldn't have done that Mark, he could have filed a Paypal dispute and he would have got his money back. So he would have got the record and the money. I think the fact that you got your record back in untainted condition shows that at least the guy didn't deliberately crack it after you'd asked for it to be sent back. I know you've gone to the hassle of selling, boxing, posting etc. but at least you are where you started and not in a situation where you've been conned out of hundreds of dollars and lost the records, like some people have. I've never had anyone try and con me or had a sale go tits up properly, a couple of people trying to squeeze as much as they can out of me but nothing bad.
  15. Paul you're a font of information.
  16. Anyaudio anywhere Paul?
  17. So is this sale original or re-press? The originals look to be the ones without the coloured logo, or UK Contempo.
  18. I must own up to having a Ric-Tic mug in the house that I bought about 15 years ago.
  19. Yes I forgot about that particular debacle Dave.
  20. There was a guy on Ebay who had some mint stock of this. I had one from him, but he doesn't appear to have anything up for sale now. There's a few copies on Discogs.
  21. Yes I know what you mean. I suppose I was thinking more in terms of the more modern events such as Parkers and the modern weekenders he was involved with and the types of acts that would appear- all quality, not forgetting his radio shows and album compilations.
  22. But RS always puts quality events on.
  23. Depends which nightclubs you went to. Scarborough Tiffs Bali Hai room was playing some deadly northern, funk and disco and I'm sure many other nightclubs up and down the country played much better music also. I'm glad that I didn't hear much of that Russ/Keith rubbish when I started to go to Wigan as it would have put me off for good. Richard Searling was the man who put the soul into northern for me and it was his sets that stoked the Casino for me.
