OOps, sorry Pedro didn't notice that you were on about modern stuff. May be you should try the Midlands with Soul Underground and Mark Randal's and Fish's events there's plenty going on to cover your tastes, it's only an hour and a half away. Jordi

Bloody hell Pedro, for a first post it sure is a downer. Have you ever been to the Orwell in Wigan or do you keep going to the same places with the same 5 DJ's that you don't like? That could explain it 'cos I'm sure if you'd been to the Orwell and seen the dancefloor reaction to the cracking tunes that get played there you wouldn't be posting this. Jordi
  3. Seems to be more copies of this around for sale, (probably as you say because of the high price all of a sudden making owners think f**k me I can get £800 if I sell it) than Mojoba and Reason Why. Still, it's a great record that I would love to have. Jordi
  4. Master Henry Gibson, now there's a talented fella. I really like this record but I always think of it as a good £50 tune for some reason. Staying with the Curtis / Master Henry Gibson congas and percussion vein, I think Patti Jo's "Ain't no love lost" is as good if not better. Jordi

I don't think he had endless copies J. He had 3 or 4 to start with then it was just copies of the album till he found a few more 45's some months later. Jordi
  6. Charlie, it came out on a 12" EP with both tracks on the one side if my memory is correct, I've got it somewhere. Jordi

Aye up Stu, I know you're asking about 60's but what about Stan Martin - "Big Mouth Woman" on Shatta from '75. He might have been living in Canada in the 60's although he is of Carribbean origin as you know. See ya on the 27th in Spondon. Jordi

    About £150 - £200 I think Miff. Jordi
  9. Anybody know anything about Nobodies Children - Shardarp on Toeholt. I only know of 3 copies, mine, 1 in Japan and 1 in Canada. also Wanda McDaniels and the Ultimate Truth - Gangster Boy on Appleray seems to be pretty elusive. Jordi
  10. Better than Mica Paris? Amy's voice sounds far too affected and put on for me and not natural enough for me on a soul level or are you talking across the genres? if you are I would put Noddy Holder's above Amy's. Jordi

Steve, I PM'd you twice, days ago. Can you get in touch please. Jordi
  12. Blimey Sebastian, I've never heard that version. What a cracker! Jordi
  13. Russ, The 12" goes for about £75 - £100, the 7" goes for £200 - £250. (I think). The 7" for me is the better version and as Them says it has a good flip. The 12" is basically a longer cut of the 7" with an elongated guitar break and another chorus. It doesn't add anything to the 7". Jordi

James Bynum Time passes by/Love you Philly City IVG+ £250.00 This can't be right can it Dazz? I thought it was only about £50 ish. Jordi
  15. Wow!! Bloody lovely stuff. How could you explain that record to your non soul mates? You couldn't, so it's their loss and our gain. (anyone got a spare? i know I'm in a queue.) Jordi
  16. Hi Excello, I bet those Emanuel Laskey's shot out faster than a buttered pig! Jordi
  17. It's still like that in Jamaica Steve, or it was when I was last there about 7 years ago, and if it wasn't vans it was little huts the size of a small garden shed. Jordi
  18. Exactly Steve! It must have been too subtle.....or just not funny. Jordi
  19. It's not one of those hairdresser / big brother contestant styles is it? Mind you a good mullet would would certainly give you the authentic 70's Wigan look. Jordi
  20. Hair gel and silly hairstyles. Jordi
  21. Leicester and Tipton. Jordi

Is this the disco ish version? I didn't know about this until a few months back. Doesn't touch the proper version though. (IMO) Jordi
  23. I think the mix up here is that the Americans refer to soul music that gets played in the mainstream pop arena as crossover music. That is not what is meant by crossover soul in the UK. Jordi
  24. I'm virtually 99.9% sure that I bid on a copy on US Columbia a few years ago on Ebay, I missed it and have been after it ever since. I remember thinking at the time that I'd never seen an American copy before. May be I was hallucinating. Jordi
  25. £15 - £20 Gareth? I'm after this on US Columbia if anyone can help. Jordi
