I don't think he had endless copies J. He had 3 or 4 to start with then it was just copies of the album till he found a few more 45's some months later. Jordi
  2. Charlie, it came out on a 12" EP with both tracks on the one side if my memory is correct, I've got it somewhere. Jordi
  3. Aye up Stu, I know you're asking about 60's but what about Stan Martin - "Big Mouth Woman" on Shatta from '75. He might have been living in Canada in the 60's although he is of Carribbean origin as you know. See ya on the 27th in Spondon. Jordi

Anybody know anything about Nobodies Children - Shardarp on Toeholt. I only know of 3 copies, mine, 1 in Japan and 1 in Canada. also Wanda McDaniels and the Ultimate Truth - Gangster Boy on Appleray seems to be pretty elusive. Jordi
  6. Better than Mica Paris? Amy's voice sounds far too affected and put on for me and not natural enough for me on a soul level or are you talking across the genres? if you are I would put Noddy Holder's above Amy's. Jordi

Steve, I PM'd you twice, days ago. Can you get in touch please. Jordi
  8. Blimey Sebastian, I've never heard that version. What a cracker! Jordi
  9. Russ, The 12" goes for about £75 - £100, the 7" goes for £200 - £250. (I think). The 7" for me is the better version and as Them says it has a good flip. The 12" is basically a longer cut of the 7" with an elongated guitar break and another chorus. It doesn't add anything to the 7". Jordi

James Bynum Time passes by/Love you Philly City IVG+ £250.00 This can't be right can it Dazz? I thought it was only about £50 ish. Jordi
  11. Wow!! Bloody lovely stuff. How could you explain that record to your non soul mates? You couldn't, so it's their loss and our gain. (anyone got a spare? i know I'm in a queue.) Jordi
  12. Hi Excello, I bet those Emanuel Laskey's shot out faster than a buttered pig! Jordi
  13. It's still like that in Jamaica Steve, or it was when I was last there about 7 years ago, and if it wasn't vans it was little huts the size of a small garden shed. Jordi
  14. Exactly Steve! It must have been too subtle.....or just not funny. Jordi

Is this the disco ish version? I didn't know about this until a few months back. Doesn't touch the proper version though. (IMO) Jordi
  19. I think the mix up here is that the Americans refer to soul music that gets played in the mainstream pop arena as crossover music. That is not what is meant by crossover soul in the UK. Jordi
  20. I'm virtually 99.9% sure that I bid on a copy on US Columbia a few years ago on Ebay, I missed it and have been after it ever since. I remember thinking at the time that I'd never seen an American copy before. May be I was hallucinating. Jordi
  21. £15 - £20 Gareth? I'm after this on US Columbia if anyone can help. Jordi
  22. Seems to be going for a ton Gareth. Jordi
  23. "Baby I'm Ready" lp track just sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it. Proper grown up singing. Jordi
  24. Good description Rob. I think of Crossover as a bit like slowed down Northern, but with music slowing down on the Northern scene anyway sometimes what gets played on the Northern scene is crossover and has been played on the Crossover scene (wherever that is!) for years. I personally think that the mid tempo Northern and Crossover make perfect companions. Crossover incorporates funky elements in the music also with rhythms and grooves being more complex than your Northern 4 x 4. Basically Crossover is whatever gets played at a Crossover do, from slow/mid tempo to fast uptempo, just the same as Northern is whatever gets played at a Northern do. There is no other answer when you have James Fountain's Seven day lover played next to Sliced Tomatoes and Bobby Goldsboro at a Northern do. (Well you used to.) Jordi
