  1. Thanks Rachel, I may of cracked it now. Jordi
  2. Aye up Val, how ya doin', yes I got the OC.It was good to chat to you. I've already got the Jerry Warren but I can't do soundfiles and I need to send it to someone ASAP. I've got it on a cd now but I don't know what I'm doing as far as the computer end of things goes and turning into a file that I can email. Best...Jordi
  3. Anyone?
  4. need this asap to send to someone. Can anyone help???? Jordi
  5. I can't do soundclips Jason, I'm not clever enough. but the production on the song is wonderful. The drums, brass, percussion and guitar sound wicked and the vocals are full up and clear in the mix. I couldn't believe the difference between this remastered version and the first version. Jordi
  6. Yes I had that, awful production. This one is the dog's though and you can hear everything going on in crystal clarity as if it were recorded yesterday. Jordi
  7. Hi Shute, I'm not sure that X over and Y2K soul/dance are good bedfellows. They are miles apart musically and I think generally (and I'm guessing here) the crowds are different. I know that at some Modern events 70's music gets programmed in but it sometimes feels as though it's been shoehorned in. I think X over works better with Northern and 60's soul with a bit of funk thrown in for good measure, as the x over seems like a logical extention musically and I think these styles fuse together better. Also as Roger has said, there are plenty of great modern/Y2K events such as Fish's nights, Soul Underground, Mark Randle's nights and they're all within a short drive for Midlanders. What is lacking in the Midlands are events that mix in Northern and crossover, and I don't mean played out northern and 70's anthems. Just my opinion as a midlands punter. Jordi
  8. Hi Jason, The "Am I Imposing" 45's on sale now are the good sounding ones, and boy does it sound good! Brilliant clarity and a fantastic tune. Best dancer of the year. It only existed on a reel to reel recording and as you said it was never actually released or promo'd unlike "Gold of my Life". So it is an original and I'm gonna play it out. Jordi
  9. I know what you mean about 70's lollopers, and there are a few, but I reckon if you were still on the Aflex Palace stall and you had a copy of Mellow Madness on there you would have told me to watch the stall for 5 mins while you went and had a fag then told me it was shite and I could have it for a fiver. Mind you Sam, our kid, or Phil would have beaten me to it. Best...Jordi
  10. Hi Rod, I think you'd find Mellow Madness too 70's disco for you. Killer top notch uptempo 70's dancer if you like things in that style, but I suspect you would hate it. All the best Rod. Jordi
  11. Aye up Rodge, I think the still prevalent vinyl preference is only held by people generally into older music, ie Northern or crossover. Certainly for DJing with, if not for home listening. I don't think the kind of tunes you may be thinking of are necessarily held back because they don't get played in a Northern room, as to my ears they are a million years apart. Modern, current music generally gets played in the rooms which are full of people who want to hear it, who's DJ's don't worry about whether it's vinyl or cd because the room will have facilities to play both. I don't think that the few people in a Northern room who might have liked it if it had been played really hold back the exposure of a tune. Let's face it, any Modern music that does get embraced by people into the older soul music styles is always well after it's been hammered in the Modern rooms. Jordi

  13. Yes, "How do you say goodbye". Brilliant deepie, much better than the average "northern" side. I got this in the 70's as a soul pack tune and always kept it for the slow flip. Come to think of it I haven't listened to the other side since those days, so I might be wrong about the 'average' comment. I'll have to dig it out tonight. Jordi

Definately! I've played this out a few times and it sounds awesome. Jordi
  15. Kev, the soundfile has expired in yousend it. Can you put it up again. Jordi
  16. His voice reminds me of the lead singer in Spreadlove "Here I go through these changes again....". I think it's a little cracker of a tune that sounds great played loud in a small venue. Jordi
  17. Don't know which section to put this in , so apologies. Sickboy (Charlie) can you get in touch as every email I send you comes back saying the mail can't be delivered. Cheers. Jordi
  18. Modern Day Woman (From the Love Anonymous LP) Sweet Sweetning. Jordi
  19. It's Otis Smith as in Northern classic "Let Her Go" on same label Perception. "One life" is a killer crossover dancer and Otis sounds brilliant on it. Where the track goes a bit odd at the end is because it merges into a slow jazz / rock piece that follows, but all you have to do is fade it out. Very easy. I wouldn't know what to price this at. When I got my copy about 6 years ago it was £30, and you used to see the odd copy about, but now you never see it. Jordi
  20. I used to love this! That break in the middle used to send people mental doing the acrobatics. It's another of those tunes that I used to love at the time that sound dreadful to my ears now. It hasn't stood the test of time for me, but the other release on the Birth label by Fred Paris - Dark at the top of my heart, this still sounds awesome. Jordi
  21. Some rough prices; Veda-What Its All About-West Sounds (have seen it for £200, but about £150 ) Oscar Perry-I Got What You Need-PeriTone (£40) Skip Mahoney-Janice-Salsoul WD 45 (£50) Solid Gold Revue-Shes So Good-Castanet (£75) Gloria gaynor-This Love Affair-Polydor (£30) Sam Dees-Fragile Handle With Care-Uk Atlantic (£75) Barrett Strong-Man Up In The Sky-UK Capitol Demo (£40) Grover Mitchell-What Hurts-UK Vanguard (£30) Kent Drake-Boss Thing Together-Wand (£50) Barbara Lynn-Trying To Love Two-Ichiban (£75) Betty Moorer-Speed Up-Wand (£50) Jordi
  22. I think you'll need a couple of grand for a Mixed Feelings. Still I might pick one up at Prestatyn tomorrow for a tenner. Jordi
  23. Another recent purchase is Jackie Beavers - Trying to get back to you girl. Can't really decide do I really like it, sometimes it sounds awesome, sometimes just okay. Heikki
  24. I don't think it's any more than £25 Osk. Unless I'm mixing it up with something else. Jordi
  25. Anybody else got a copy of this. I want this also. PM if you have. Cheers. Jordi
