My Dj Playlist From The Weekend
As for what the punters want I wouldn't expect much else from the west midlands, every time I've been in the area it's pretty much all they want...must be the least progressive area in the country but if thats what they want.........

My Dj Playlist From The Weekend
I don't see a problem Pete. Your set was awesome, and as you say it was for a specific crowd for a specific reason. When I go out to '60's Oldies' nights that is the sort of set that I would like to hear and dance to. Jordi

My Dj Playlist From The Weekend
Hi tad, I played this one in honour of Eugene Record. I've been playing it at home for a few days thinking that I'll play this out next chance I get. Sweet, feel good 70's dancer. Do you know the Gangbusters - Just want you to know. Jordi

My Dj Playlist From The Weekend
I always enjoy reading playlists from venue reports and the variety of what gets played is unbelievable. Whether it's from the Lifeline, The Orwell, The 100 Club, Oslo Soul, or Japanese radio stations, there appears to be a healthy regard for stuff that doesn't fit in the 'Top 500'. It was with this in mind that I thought it would be good to carry on this thread ( I know it's been done before but I can't find it) and see what people are spinning either in venues or radio stations around the world. I'll kick off with what David and myself played this weekend at the 3 Greyhounds Crossover night in Middlewich. In no particular order: BJB-I got to make you believe in me (Tee-TI) Gangbusters - Just want you to know (North Country Records) Maureen Bailey -taking my time with you (Embee) James D Hall - I Wanna Get Into You (JDH) LeroyBarbour-I Aint going nowhere (Frontiersman) Headliners - Little Sister (Super M) Brand New-Thousand Years (Duvern) Trey J's - I Found It All In You (Tee Gem) Cloudburst- I'm Loving you (Stormy monday) Betty Boo - Say It Isn't So (UK Grapevine) C.Coulter-Cant fight the feeling (Dyco) Nia Johnson -I'll Be Your Pleasure (Mainline) Ellipsis -People (Briarmeade) Vise - Baby I Love You (Chocolate Mamma) Flourescent Smogg- All My Life (WJ) O'Jays - Just To Be With You (Little Star) Norris Vine- Give in (Smile) The Committee - Give In To The Power Of Love (NMI) 4 Dynamics -Things a lady aint suppose to do (peachtree) Skip Jackson - I'm Onto You Girl (Dot-Mar) Bobby Hutton- Watch where you're going (ABC) Rotations - I've Got To Find Her (DeBrossard) Willie Pickett- On the stage of life (Eastern) Emulations - Move A Little Slower Girl (Emulate) Connie Laverne -Cant live without you (GSF) King Tutt - You've Got Me Hung Up (Fun City) Dutch Robinson - Can't Get Along Without You (UA) Papa Bear and the cubs -You're so fine (SMS) Nobodies Children - Shardarp (Toeholt) Milton Parker -Women like it harder (Closet) Wanda McWilliams and Universal Truth - Gangster Boy (Appleray test press) Pat and the Blenders -Just Because (Fast Eddie) Chi Lites - Stoned Out Of My Mind (Brunswick) Kenni Lewis Whats her name (Buddah) Blues Bag Ltd - I'm Gonna Love You (Plumm) New Figurations - Nuts For Ya (ABS) Purple Mundi Stop Hurtin me (Cat) Village Choir - Sweet Hot Lips (NYC Street Sounds) Stan Martin - Big Mouth Woman (Shatta) Top Shelf -Doggone baby I love you (Spectrum) Pulse - Sunshine (Olde World LP) Trace of smoke Treasure mind ( BJ) Norma Jean - I've Taken Over (Hep' Me) Triplettes-That Man of Mine (Mollie Jo) Jackie Beavers - We're Not Too Young (Mainstream) Jordi

Whatever Happened To Stomping?
I used to get mixed up by the term Stompers, 'cos whenever anyone talked about 60's stompers they were n't what I thought of as stompers. I used to like stomping (or is it shuffling??) to stuff like: The bottle SOS - Todays people Creative source Dutch Robinson Captain of my ship Ton of Dynamite Edwin Starr - Time Chuck Jackson - I got the need Rimshots - Do what you feel There were quite a lot of others that I will have to charge up the brain cells to remember, usually funkier 70's things. Al Williams-try Them
- Willie Mitchell - The Champion - Hi
Ha Ha, Ged I've got a couple of records with 'Bob Slater' written on the label. Mind you I used to do the same thing back in the 70's, even scratch my name in the run out groove, just in case anyone nicked my pressings! Jordi- Brand New
--> QUOTE(mark.b @ Sep 22 2005, 11:24 PM) link very luckily got this last year for £100 was very pleased with that mark Didn't someone pull a copy out of King Bee in Manchester for £200? Jordi- Inovations On Hit Sound
James, I've PM'd you. (I've titled it as Intentions, obviously meant Inovations)- 2 Desperate Wants
Pure Yarmouth!! Lovely tune, I take it that it's an unreleased track? apart from on the lp obviously. Jordi- Willie Hutch R.i.p
Ohh shit! Not another hero. Jordi- The Tom,emmanuel And Ron Experience
Everytime I see it for sale it's about £50. It's been known about for a good few years but I don't know how much it's been played. "Why" has had some crossover plays. He's a bit of a poor man's Terry Callier to my ears. Jordi- Imperial Wonders 45 Wanted
I think Imperial Wonders is the first version. Rock n' Co is good, particularly the lead and backing vocals, but it pales in excitement compared to the superior Imp Wonders version. IMO. Jordi- The Strange World Of Northern Soul?
Cheeky fu**er! Venues that play sets like this are the kind of places I want to go to. Excellent stuff Dukester. You're always going to get some who are n't happy, but stick to your guns and hopefully the majority will appreciate. If they don't, then you're playing to the wrong crowd. Was the night advertised as an oldies do? Jordi- Northern Soul & Labels
Always tongue instead of boiled ham, followed by lemon meringue pie. Jordi- Earles Inc. On Zudan
Steve, I heard it for the first time last night at a mates house and thought I've got to get one of these. Yes, it certainly has a feel of "Everybody's..." about it. My mate says it's not dear but not available too often. I'm sure I've seen it on a forum sales list recently. It wouldn't be Ebay as I hardly bother with it now. I can't be arsed to wade through all the shit UK boots and pressings clogging up the pages. Jordi- Earles Inc. On Zudan
I'm after this little tune and I'm sure I've seen it listed recently but can't remember where. Has anyone got one for sale? Ta very much. Jordi- Fabulous Playmates On Select
Yeah, definate bargain. That tune has gone through the roof. If you don't want it let me know 'cos I certainly will give it a good home. Jordi- You Cant Beat An Instrumental
Don't quite get this one. I would have thought the other way round would have been more accurate: "left wing soullies". Being that the right wing are more conservative and traditional and opposed to change and the left are more progressive. Where's my fall out shelter. Jordi- You Cant Beat An Instrumental
I always liked Sidra's theme better than the vocal as well. Jordi - Willie Mitchell - The Champion - Hi
