Miss a turn as you change out of that once white but now brown spotted T- shirt. Jordi
  3. It was a mate of mine's copy, so I was curious. It was £259 with a few hours to go when I last saw. I didn't think Manships was the best place to move it on really as it's not a tune that has had much exposure to the soul crowd. Hot tune tho'. Jordi
  4. Anyone know what Dolly Gilmore fetched? Jordi
  5. The flip of the 45 isn't the other good track on the lp. I can't remember the track but it is another goodie tho' not quite as good as "You dont love me ...." I'll post up when I get home and dig the lp out. The only way to get both tracks is to get the lp. Jordi

Touch of Velvet - A bit cheesy but was often used link
  7. James, have you got a soundfile of this one. I have only heard it down the phone once in a pub which wasn't the best environment, but the track seemed a bit of a shrieker and more funk than Northern. I could do with hearing it again as I turned it down as a trade, and that may or may not have been a bollock dropped. Jordi

It's on a 12" from a couple of years ago with a couple of housey/groove type things that are nothing to do with Marvin. Luckily "Where are we going" is track 1 on one of the sides, so is nice and DJ friendly. I certainly play it out as I'm not going to take one CD out with me hoping there will be a CD player. The label is Bizket. Jordi
  9. Otis Smith was also lead singer for "The Albert" on Perception. Don't know where the hell that group name came from but I doubt it did them any favours! They were a psychedelic/jazzy outfit but they cut a killer crossover tune on one of their albums called "One Life", with Otis sounding as superb as you would expect. Jordi

Hamilton Movement - She's Gone. "Life is a funny, funny thing!" and Hewitt - Is it me? is a nice intro ramble. Jordi
  11. Anyone out there got Mike Charlton's Email address please? Jordi
  12. The best version in my opinion is by Aretha, I forget the LP title but it is album only. There is also a nice version by Delegation on a UK label which I can't be arsed to go and dig out. The Jackie Wilson has the brilliant Sam Dees song on the back, again I can't remember the title without digging it out. None of the versions should be more than £25. You have to laugh (or bang your head in despair) again at the Manship Disneyland prices. I need some coffee and a brain re-boot. Jordi
  13. Seems to be a strange one to price does this (Papa Bear and the Cubs). I've seen it for £40, I know someone who paid about £40, Henry Atkinson wanted £200 but I think he was having a guess, so who knows? It's a bit obscure so how does someone arrive at a price for something like this? Jordi

    Nice post Kolla. Jordi
  15. Yes Mark, the other track on the Thelma Houston UK version of the LP is "Nothing Left To Give". Top drawer crossover dancer, which knocks everything else on the LP into shade. Jordi

I always used to think 1963-4 was pushing it a bit in terms of records sounding too primitive and dated. '65 onwards was the true sound of Northern and soul to me. So when I go out and here 45 mins of hillbilly, cousin shaggin' rock a billy wank, I have to wonder what the f*** has happened. Why are people moving backwards and not forwards. I suppose this offends some people and for that I do apologise, but I just don't see that this music belongs in soul rooms of any kind. Maybe Mod, maybe rock n' roll, may be country, may be line dancing, but NOT SOUL. I don't understand how people into soul have gone down this road, when so many people are playing quality music every weekend at venues up and down the country. I hope it's a blip in the same way 60's blue eyed pop records were a blip and that soon the scene will shake itself up and stop trying to re invent itself and realise that it should get out of reverse gear. Having said that (after a vodka too many) Don Gardner's Boogaloo makes me nod my head and smile uncontrolably everytime I hear it. Jordi
  17. It used to get a lot of plays about 4 or 5 years ago at the Modern/Crossover nights. Jordi
  18. The album from which "Baby I'm Sorry" is taken from is all reggae. Jordi
