  1. Nobody under the age of 40 gets cake - it's just too painful for the rest of us!
  2. Me too! Now there's a great venue
  3. Far from unknown - been played years - great tune! A bit of useless and off topic info here - but when I first DJ'd at the 100 club, must be 14 years ago, or more maybe, this was the first record I played in my spot - still got it today
  4. I'd agree, although it seems there are a lot out there who would put it a lot cheaper. I reckon it's worth every penny of £400 - great tune!
  5. Fantastic tune! Glad to see it's at last getting the recognition it deserves, although you can bet Shep would have had his ears well and truly nailed shut whenever I played it oop north. Boys!

  7. Will never forget that first all nighter at CIS - couldn't help thinking who on earth would put an event on in a venue the size of a small country! Just showed how much I know, the place was rammed! Have enjoyed many, many of your nights over the years, but without doubt the Fabulous Peps was one of the best nights I have ever had in 20 odd years on the soul scene. Also meeting the lovely Mr. Ronnie Walker. Be happy guys!
  8. Not if you say Jean Carter was one of the tracks on it
  9. You are kidding me Des? How cool is that! Did it have his top 10 on it?
  10. Yes he did have it covered up, don't think it was Gwen Owens though. Lorraine Rudolph maybe? Where's Chalky when you need him? CHALKY....!
  11. Mine's ok
  12. Yes Edwin has got incredible taste. Used to spend a lot of time with him, not seen him for years though. COME BACK EDWIN!!
  13. Yes that is impressive Rob. Be even more impressive if he was doing it as a punter. Unfortunately we won't be doing the 300 mile round trip - we are church mice at the moment. Have big fun guys!
  14. Yeah, it will be such fun when they go to an actual soul do and realise that the music is not by the trendy artists they know and love. Can't wait! I can see it now - loads of trendy young 'uns coming up and asking for Amy Winehouses version of Hit and Run PS: as with the Wigan thread - I am gobsmacked how anyone can think using anything other than the original music is in any way, shape or form acceptable.
  15. Read the ONCE UPON A TIME IN WIGAN thread Bazza! Here's the link
  16. Yeah - but there's nothing wrong with that is there? It was ok when it was Once Upon a Time in Wigan.
  17. Why have I got the feeling that we've been here before From reading that article it sounds to me like the original music is going to be replaced with cover versions. Albeit this time it's Paul Weller as the lead singer instead of the Flying Pickets geezer. But hey ho, give it a chance, live and let live and all that!

It is good Phil. It's better than good in fact. Old Rob Marriott biggie - used to get played loads. Great tune

PHIL! Jeez, how can you not know this!
  20. Sorry, but i've just had to check it's not April 1st

Totally agree with you Dave, the 45 of 'Only hurts' is a thousand times better - can't stand the LP version.
  22. What about Jimmy Elder! Would love to know what he's up to. Yes - was great to see you at the bar, but jeez wasn't it hot!
  23. Hi Andy

Never went to Wigan, obviously far too young Of course I would have liked to have gone, but I can honestly say I have never really given it much thought, no point. But seeings as I love the odd dance or two, I can't help thinking that a dance floor that packed would have got on my nerves. PS: Did anyone ever get kicked in the head by all those people 'expressing' themselves via their lower limbs?
  25. I still don't see the word vinyl there Pete. The point I am trying to make has absolutely nothing to do with vinyl - this is theatre ffs, not an all niter. I'm not talking about what format its on, I'm talking about the original soundtrack to the play, the thing the entire production is based on, being replaced by a live band. How anyone on here can think that is acceptable is beyond me.
