  1. See you later girlie
  2. I've got a solution - stop whining and get out and enjoy yourselves? Works for me
  3. Is this a real one Andy? If so I am green. Look forward to seeing 'Something About My Baby' on your playlists soon

Take it you've given up your original quest to own the lot then?
  5. Have to say Mike, the one's for the Drunken Monkey - 'Rare Soul Violence' - were really great. Also love this one - pretty sure it was a flyer, not sure where for though.
  6. Hi Jock, Forgot about Big Frank. And no - I don't have Patti Labelle, or Joe Phillips - so if you could sort those out that would be great. Have got all on the list now thanks to all you kind people on here. SO THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE Thanks Toady for pointing out my mistake! Glad to see you are well on the mend! Could do with LESTER TIPTON and RAY AGEE though please - if anyone would be so kind. Also - if anyone has a tune that reminds them of Pete - please feel free to send them! playthebside@yahoo.co.uk Have to say I'm starting to get really excited now - it's going to be a great day
  7. Oooh, I just thought - hope I'm not doing anything against the rules by posting this up here! Oh well, I'm sure I'll be told soon enough if I have
  8. Hi everyone, I am going to do a cd for the Pete Lawson's memorial do, with tunes that remind people of him. Have been going through some of the old threads, and have put together a list of records that people on here have said remind them of Pete. If there are other records that remind you of him, please feel free to send them to me. I need MP3's - so can you either send them via pm - or email them to me please. My email is: playthebside@yahoo.co.uk Thanks loads x LESTER TIPTON - THIS WON'T CHANGE RAY AGEE - LOSING AGAIN
  9. No it's ok-ish - I put it on the kitchen table, a towel ended up on top of it, and when I went to get the towel - the record came with it. I have taped the two halves together and it plays ok. Knowing my luck - the B side is going to be the best thing since Damon Fox
  10. I got one ages ago off Ebay for a couple of quid - then broke it!
  11. Want us to come round yours Sunday afternoon Phil - just in case?
  12. Nobody under the age of 40 gets cake - it's just too painful for the rest of us!
  13. Me too! Now there's a great venue
  14. Far from unknown - been played years - great tune! A bit of useless and off topic info here - but when I first DJ'd at the 100 club, must be 14 years ago, or more maybe, this was the first record I played in my spot - still got it today
  15. I'd agree, although it seems there are a lot out there who would put it a lot cheaper. I reckon it's worth every penny of £400 - great tune!

Fantastic tune! Glad to see it's at last getting the recognition it deserves, although you can bet Shep would have had his ears well and truly nailed shut whenever I played it oop north. Boys!

  18. Will never forget that first all nighter at CIS - couldn't help thinking who on earth would put an event on in a venue the size of a small country! Just showed how much I know, the place was rammed! Have enjoyed many, many of your nights over the years, but without doubt the Fabulous Peps was one of the best nights I have ever had in 20 odd years on the soul scene. Also meeting the lovely Mr. Ronnie Walker. Be happy guys!
  19. Not if you say Jean Carter was one of the tracks on it
  20. You are kidding me Des? How cool is that! Did it have his top 10 on it?
  21. Yes he did have it covered up, don't think it was Gwen Owens though. Lorraine Rudolph maybe? Where's Chalky when you need him? CHALKY....!
  22. Mine's ok
  23. Yes Edwin has got incredible taste. Used to spend a lot of time with him, not seen him for years though. COME BACK EDWIN!!
  24. Yes that is impressive Rob. Be even more impressive if he was doing it as a punter. Unfortunately we won't be doing the 300 mile round trip - we are church mice at the moment. Have big fun guys!
  25. Yeah, it will be such fun when they go to an actual soul do and realise that the music is not by the trendy artists they know and love. Can't wait! I can see it now - loads of trendy young 'uns coming up and asking for Amy Winehouses version of Hit and Run PS: as with the Wigan thread - I am gobsmacked how anyone can think using anything other than the original music is in any way, shape or form acceptable.
