  5. Soul blues is a style of blues music developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s that combines elements of soul music and urban contemporary music. Singers and musicians who grew up listening to the traditional electric blues of artists such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Elmore James; soul singers such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Otis Redding; and gospel music wanted to bridge their favorite music together.Bobby Bland was one of the pioneers of this style. This is a sub-genre of blues that is very popular with African American audiences but less known by white audiences. The style continues to be popular in the new millennium. Notable artists Bobby "Blue" Bland Z. Z. Hill Maybe this might help

  9. Pretty sure my mate Paul Murphy from Bradford came third that year................remember Reeves looked really shy and bashful when he was up on the stage with Martha. Strange isn't it................ask me something that happened yesterday and I wouldn't have a clue, lol!!!
  10. Yep, quite small in height...............not sure where he was from or his mate though..........
  11. Seem to remember a guy called Reeves winning it.............same year as Martha Reeves appeared (late 70's)............got a photo somewhere of her presenting him with the prize

  16. Unfortunately to some.....................time just hasn't moved on......................neither has the music!!!! The worrying thing is that some of the youth involved in the scene today thinks that this is 'the norm'.....................which I personally find very sad!!!

Only ever had a panic on a couple of times with records from the States...............nothing major though!!! Think the longest wait I had was a record from Germany............snail's pace but got here in the end and France pretty slow too!!! Been pretty lucky I guess.............fingers crossed it'll stay that way!!! Caz
  21. I could think of a few more choice names for him, lol...............unfortunately he's not the only one with this type of mentality!!!

  24. Spot on Suz.....................a couple of crackers!!! How come we missed each other at Middleton, lol.....................probably too busy gassing (both of us I mean) :D
  25. Does it relate specifically the 'late' 60's?? Never watched it myself so don't know.............find myself a bit perplexed as to why Northern Soul has even been mentioned........think it would've been better to maybe aim this at the young mods on the scene.
