- Bulters = Butlers?
Always thought this (blue) was a boot. Perhaps the blue copies are some sort of reissue because the run out has the A scratched out then a -R- then 'B', likewise the b is scratched out then a -R- then an 'A'. However, the labels, and numbers, are the same, i.e. Butlers Theme remaining the A side. Very odd.- 100 Club 21st Anniversary Single?

It's a mate who's emigrating next month or August, or Sept, think they're going as a job lot to Pork Pie County, so chase up JM. I'll ask if they've gone yet.- Mp3
] Otis Clay--the only way is up. would be very greatfull....- Mp3
Sorry, low quality mp3 of crap quality recording.- Creators On Rca

Robin The YH releases , they don't have that on the label. Can youPM me your email again ta Larry Wedgewood & the Boston Celtics- Arthur Wright Orchestra

Try googling Hazel Martin- Tell Me About The Tempests
No, sorry, but from the sleeve notes it seems a lead singer was added around 1962, but I don't know if it's the same one on the album, and so wouldn't hazard a guess as to if it was a 'soul' record.- Gino Washington - Rat Race
Unreleased (acetate) track, played a lot by Dave Thorley at Stafford- Tell Me About The Tempests
Here's the sleeve notes from the album. " Would You Believe" on Smash was number 41 in September 1967, and since the Smash label ended in 1969, they must have made to album within the next 2 years. There's a single called "Count Down," recorded by 'The Tempests' on the Dominion Records from Salem, Virginia, 1962, might me one of their early outings?- Advice - Ruby Andrews
ZTSC, J ZSP etc The last letter had nothing to do with it being the A or B side, it is to do cataloguing and press run for that song, the highest I've seen was F. However, I think the precise reasoning is a bit complicanted than A= 1st B= 2nd etc as Giggi & Charmains - Brazil is 1A and the other side 'poor unfortunate me' is 1D. Obviously, there are lots of 1A's and 1B's as most records were only pressed up once, or twice maximum, and so that's why it seems to be related to 'A' & 'B' sides.- Dry Well Gypsy 45
Another version of the Leaders - You are the one I love - Blue Rock?, or the more squeeky version by the Adams Apples? ( They actually sing 'when the day is through, I'll run back home to you')- J G Lewis / Johnny Gilliam
JG Lewis/Johnny Gilliam were part of the 70s DC scene and were still around when the Washington Go-Go scene broke internationally in the '80s. The connection was Max Kidd (of Al and the Kidd). Max had his greatest success as Trouble Funk's manager but had been a producer for Shrine Records and wrote for Eddie Day and the 4 Bars and for the Prophets. His side-kick Keni Lewis was the brains behin the Epsilons and may if my memory is right have been JG Lewis's uncle. (Andy Rix mght confrim or deny?) The records on Cancer are prior to the IX Chains stuff, I presumed, and therefore, his true name is John Louis Gilliam? He decides to have a change of name to either get around a contractural obligation, or get a new stage name and Lewis is just a play on Louis. But as you elude to regarding the truth behind the DC story at the time anything could be the 'true story' Interesting how there so many stories and intrigue around so many soul artists of those times.- Manships Auction Prices Today
- J G Lewis / Johnny Gilliam
Must have liked it once to have bought it, but not that much that I've forgot I have it! Bit of a plodder and far too many time he goes 'well'- J G Lewis / Johnny Gilliam
Sort of a follow on from the post about another version of 'seven day lover' on IX Chains. Dug out another record on the label today, J G Lewis - 'What Am I Gonna Do', which I think is very good (apart from the Sven 'Well's) Then there's the not so good 'Dance Lady Dance' on Al + the Kid, old Sam spin Plus a couple of good tracks by his elder identical twin, Johnny Louis Gilliam, 'Tell Your Friend It's Over' + 'Room Full Of Tears'. Any others by them worth a mention?- Identify This Please A Butch Spin
The xylophone at the begining reminds me of Jackie Beavers - I need my baby, but I doubt it's Detroit. Probably someone like Mary Love, that when you find out who it really is, you go of course it's 'what's her name' and you've got a couple of her record on the shelf!- Dry Well Gypsy 45
5p is a good guess Ken, mine (Dry Well) has got 10 cents written on the label. Agree at about 40 as Dry Well. As Ellen & Shandels, it went for over 300 on Manships auction a couple of months ago, but as it exactly the same record why bother spending the extra dosh?- Dry Well Gypsy 45
