  1. OK thanks. So 'Flaming Arrow' = Orig, then i can sleep tonight!
  2. Hi, Is this new press that you refer to the one with label 'Flying Arrow' or is there also a repress with 'Flaming Arrow', if so what should i look for to confirm if my one (Flaming Arrow) is original as I also thought the vinyl looked sort of new. thks for any guidance here.
  3. GW, but only just. (prepare to be shot down...) neither would make my top500
  4. Very interesting feature ! a couple of good prices; johnny honeycutt & john harris ? I have seen 'ebay latest auctions' i.e. those coming to an end soon on the site but now i cant find it ? can anyone help me on this please. also what determines which records get to be highlighted. many thanks.
  5. Fantastic Epics - spoken bit about halfway which i think is not really necessary but i still love the track....
  6. Thanks Viphitman & Russell ....Really interesting topic/articles so would love to hear more contributions from Europe & beyond. The bit i have quoted sums up the value to the whole scene of an 'OVO' policy.
  7. anyone please!
  8. This link has a bit of a write-up and some feedback... https://www.business2community.com/entertainment/masqueraders-give-first-time-performance-americas-got-talent-song-50-years-making-01903326 they seem to be downplaying their recording history a bit, i dont blame them at all and hope they do well.
  9. It went for a bit more than that! i agreed a price via discogs and when i saw it was on ebay i asked the seller to remove it as we had agreed a deal & he did straight away. Just hope it is the same as the scan when it turns up
  10. Has anyone experience of using mono cartridges as a lot of the records we play are mono? just wondering if it may help with records that are not in such great condition playwise. Thanks for any info.
  11. In view of the recent poll showing 90% like to see playlists i decided to put this up. Was asked to play at this new venue (2nd event i think) and about 70 attended and although not full it was a good atmosphere. The flyers said 'up tempo northern classics' and the dancers seemed to like what was played. I chucked in willie makkit at the end to see how it would go down and people seem to either really love it or hate it . all OVO..... 12. Cash waiting for a copy (anyone?) please pm price/condition and demo/issue.
  13. Thanks Dean for clarification - i agree it is good to see that on a playlist. When recording a playlist i copy & paste from my master database so it is easy to show label, US/UK, Demo/issue (& all ovo!).
  14. Very valid points and if i post a playlist will try and put it in context of the whole night and how it was received. Also what might look like a bad choice of record to follow the previous one may have been the right thing to react to the dancefloor (or maybe lack of.., venue going from empty to filling up etc... and the set listing doesn't portary how the dj went from one to the next say maybe with soem speaking to deliberately allow a change of gear. Also a playlist doesn't always tell you what a dj may be able to play - being small time with few opportunities i generally have to play more 'top 500' than i personally would like because that is what the promoter and a large percentage of the dancers demand.
  15. As i often try and find an event to tie in with business trips (all over the country) then it is very useful to be able to look up an event and see playlists as this gives a much better indication as to the type of event rather than just 'across the board etc..etc..'. I used to put up playlists from the odd event i was asked to do as i thought it may attract people to the venue in future (of course it may also put them off). But as there didn't seem to be many other playlist posts i stopped doing it in case it just came across as a bit of 'self promotion'. Dean, by 'authenticity of the label' do you mean just quoting the label e.g. 'washpan' or more detail e.g. 'washpan 1967 nashville matrix...' I think it should be clear if original vinyl or not (i also think any venues advertising should state their policy on this as this is a big part of me choosing a venue to attend).
  16. Thanks to all for your comments and background info. I will have to keep this version as a late night alone at home play (after a few drinks..). !!!
  17. Like most I got into motown (chartbusters etc..) and then heard northern at youth club off older lads. I bought Frankie Vallie your ready now & was told it was a "rare 1st issue" (turned out of course to be re-issue). When the lads who went to wigan started to play things like wayne gibson, javells, hawaii 5 O etc.. it wasn't really for me. Around this time i changed jobs and moved and mixed with a crowd into 'jazz funk' so that and what is now called 'modern soul' was what i listened to (capital radio soul show with Gregg Edwards/Robbie Vincent..). Then job, family stuff (& a bit of house music.) etc.. and into the 90's picked up a few northern cd's and started to realise what i had missed. Late 90's saw a flyer for a northern do in Brighton and went along and as a result found out that there was (and had been all along) a scene still going. Been going regularly to do's and collecting since. So in a way i missed out but the last 20 years of discovering lots of records for the first time has been fantastic!
  18. i agree the o'jays is the more polished/finished article.
  19. whenever i play this the missus reckons the singing is out of tune and anyway she prefers the linda jones version. for me i just like the rawness of it. So is she right?
  20. Hi, cash waiting - please pm with price and condition.
  21. please pm price and condition, cash waiting for sensible(ish) deal.
  22. what about 'dj essential or dj must have'. You would need a rather large box to contain all of these! & if every dj was supposed to carry a copy wouldn't that make it common as muck?
  23. Hi, I am only interested in ones titled 'Remember Me' not 'Remember'. Please pm with price and condition if you have for for sale - many thanks.
  24. i do have to ignore the sentiments behind the songs, inventing my own 'inappropriate' vocals.
  25. in case you haven't come across these 2 which i picked up last year..
