  1. What I don't get about this is, why has it suddenly become good just because it's been released on a 45 several years after the original CD was released?

I also managed to pick up a Ronnie McNeir "My Baby b/w Hold On" which I hadn't seen listed previously. Hold On is a great record.
  3. The album contains even better tracks
  4. Very interesting Mark but that track has nothing to do with modern soul.....imvfho of course 😀
  5. I can't believe how much Tony Troutman sold for. How could that be?😮
  6. RIP Winston. He was always really nice to me when I bumped into him regularly in the lates 90s /early 00s. I think thta's when he started writing his excellent reviews for this website.
  7. Does it sample this? The horns sound similar.
  8. It's stiil the first press, isn't it?
  9. A bit of a repetitive, boring Chic take off I'm afraid 😀
  10. I quite agree. There's plently on non soul music I like. I think it just demonstrates what Spotify's (and probably other streaiming services) definition of soul is. It's proably determined by a programme of some kind.
  11. It's not a soul record.
  12. The mid 90s onwards was great for me. Some very good modern rooms alongside northern room at allnighters e.g. Bretby, Stoke and Winsford. In London, there were a lot of soul nights including These Old Shoes, Capitol Soul Club & Scenseville where the northern, I think, was pretty fresh. There were also lots of new CD compilations to help further my knowledge.
  13. Ah yes, you could well be right Neil. I wonder if Ian Dewhirst will feature 😀
  14. Back in 2002, I compiled my first CDR on my new home PC. This is a mix of those newies and oldies I compiled 17 years ago including Jill Scott, Rahsaan Patterson, Angie Stone, Angela Johnson, Maysa, D'Influence, Bobby Womack, Jean Carne and John Edwards. They all still sound fantastic today.
  15. I saw the first episode yesterday and thought it was quite good. Who are the trio supposed to be?
  16. OVO

    That's just your own interpretation.
  17. I know this was popular back in the day but this is seriously bad 😂
  18. Yeah, I really enjoyed them too. This should be great.
  19. On the whole I agree, but I do like this version of Fantastic Johnny C, Perhaps it works better with 70s records
  20. Bob Sinclar. Total rubbish.
  21. RIP James. The Quincy Jones stuff was the best but he continued to collaborate with the en vogue producers like Teddy Riley and MAW.
  22. What did I tell you?😀
  23. Not that I know of. There's a couple of good ones in Feb.
  24. No surprise. I predicted this last year. We should've had a refund then. Very disappointing. At least the Louie Vega gig is still on at end January.
