Record Store day 2019
I also managed to pick up a Ronnie McNeir "My Baby b/w Hold On" which I hadn't seen listed previously. Hold On is a great record.

Does it sample this? The horns sound similar.

Ocean Drive - Limited to 100 hand stamped 45'S - new release
A bit of a repetitive, boring Chic take off I'm afraid 😀

Name that tune
I quite agree. There's plently on non soul music I like. I think it just demonstrates what Spotify's (and probably other streaiming services) definition of soul is. It's proably determined by a programme of some kind.

Name that tune
It's not a soul record.

Thinking back to the Nineties
The mid 90s onwards was great for me. Some very good modern rooms alongside northern room at allnighters e.g. Bretby, Stoke and Winsford. In London, there were a lot of soul nights including These Old Shoes, Capitol Soul Club & Scenseville where the northern, I think, was pretty fresh. There were also lots of new CD compilations to help further my knowledge.

My First Modern Soul CDR from 2002
Back in 2002, I compiled my first CDR on my new home PC. This is a mix of those newies and oldies I compiled 17 years ago including Jill Scott, Rahsaan Patterson, Angie Stone, Angela Johnson, Maysa, D'Influence, Bobby Womack, Jean Carne and John Edwards. They all still sound fantastic today.

American Soul - New TV Drama - Thur 7th Feb 10pm only on BET UK
I saw the first episode yesterday and thought it was quite good. Who are the trio supposed to be?

OVO
That's just your own interpretation.

The most hated song on the scene. Is this it?
I know this was popular back in the day but this is seriously bad 😂

Yeah, I really enjoyed them too. This should be great.

Thoughts on Re-edits of Northerrn Soul tracks?
On the whole I agree, but I do like this version of Fantastic Johnny C, Perhaps it works better with 70s records
-
The most hated song on the scene. Is this it?
Bob Sinclar. Total rubbish.

James Ingram R.I.P.
RIP James. The Quincy Jones stuff was the best but he continued to collaborate with the en vogue producers like Teddy Riley and MAW.

Lamont Dozier Tour - Cancelled
What did I tell you?😀

Central London Soul Dj evenings on Saturday
Not that I know of. There's a couple of good ones in Feb.

Lamont Dozier - Cancelled !
No surprise. I predicted this last year. We should've had a refund then. Very disappointing. At least the Louie Vega gig is still on at end January.

The blurred line...
I didn't know she covered it. Interesting - thanks for putting it up. Her version is much better though.

The blurred line...
I wouldn't have thought there was much overlap between Blackpool Mecca and Studio 54.
