All Dayers
I love alldayers. The only problem seems to be that they don't get going until 8pm when lots of people turn up, which then turns into a soul night. The afternoon sessions at weekenders can sometimes be the best bit when they're rocking but then they shut down at 6pm.

New Stevie Wonder Cd
Yep, that's very good too. Not as good as track 2 though imo.

New Stevie Wonder Cd
It's pretty good. I've only played it once so far. Track 2 "Sweetest Somebody I Know" is classic Stevie. There's a bit of schmaltz on there but let's face it you can go too far wrong with a Stevie CD.

Favourite Free Cd's / Tapes
Paul, you're right. The These Old shoes CDs were excellent. I've also got a Wigan Orwell CD from about 4 years back from Steve Plumb. Most of the tunes were new to me at the time but have since become classics like Nathan Williams, Masterpeice, David Ruffin, Rosie Grier, Lou Ragand, Gems for Gem, Gloria Jay and loads more.

Anyone Bought Any Decent Cds Recently?
There's been some xcellent new realeases, such as: Earth, Wind & Fire - Illumination Ian Martin - The Way Various Artists - Soul Exposed Wade O. Brown - All Night, All Love There's plenty more too.
-
Trevor Nelson - Help
If you thought what they did to the northern soul scene was bad, they absolutely mudered the southern / Caister scene.
-
Impalas Or Betty Moorer
I'm gonna vote for Betty too. Much better imo.
-
100% Pure Poison
I saw this on an old list from 1984 - price £3!! I didn't know it then.
-
Tune Alert
Yes that's right Mike. It takes bloody ages unless you've got broadband.
-
The Continetal 4
I think it was Chuck Stanley who covered "Day By Day" - Tashan's label mate on Def Jam.
-
Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators
I heard it last night on Richard Searling's show. Good tune but the vocal is terrible imo.

Worst Cd Compilation
Well put Simon. There's plenty of very good compilation CDs out there. It's slowed down a bit during the last 4 years or so but I guess that's inevitable. They've helped me hear all sorts of great songs that I would never have done otherwise. Grapevine are putting out some marvelous stuff. There are some rubbish ones too, as mentioned above, but it's niot difficult to suss them out. Btw, I thought The Cleethorpes Story Cd was very good. I never went, so I can't comment if it did the venue justice but musically the CD stands up imo.

Just Showing Off?
didn't he organise one of the German weekenders recently? That'll be when he booked Terry, Jo, etc

Northern To Disco

**(contemporary) Soulful Comp Released Today!**
I think you'll find this is a bona fide release. I don't see why it shouldn't be posted on this site.

Most Influential Dj?
That sounds brilliant. I would love to hear someone try a set like that these days. I think I'd nominaet Richard Searling for someone with broad all era taste and has pushed music no matter what the date of the tune is.
-
Crossover-70's-modern
I'd agree with that assessment John.

Betty Boo "say It Isn't So"
Personally I've never liked this and hated the Popcorn Wylie songs even more. "Rosemary What Happened" is worse than Footsee imo. But then again, I never went to Wigan and never experienced hearing them at the time and place.

Motown Remixed
I got the CD yesterday and I quite like it. If nothing else, it's made me re-appreciate (if there's such a word) how good the originals are - particularly "Keep On' Truckin'"
