  1. You of course are suggesting that every artist you interview remembers everything in great detail with perfect recall. And that just doesn't happen either.
  2. I'm sure at the time someone did speak to Persil who confirmed that it was a piece of music specially commisioned for the ad.
  3. What's the prize ??? Like Chalky I've got all the programmes files away...somewhere
  4. Pep probably has
  5. The Detroit Magnetics are possibly the same group that recorded on Allrite (Because of the Detroit association of the label). However, according to Dennis Coffey (Who played on both group's sessions) are NOT The Volumes recording under a different name as was once thought.
  6. Absolute star that he is......Mr Rivers DID donate them to a home that already has the record Cheers Dave
  7. I'm sure you'd like to donate them to a good home that already has the record
  8. Simple in my case. I'm either DJing somewhere else, or attending somewhere else. Very few weekends go by without me being out somewhere.

The real ones have a red 'A', the boots have a black 'A'
  12. I decided on a bit of a clear out, but can't be bothered listing things individually on Ebay. So, offered for sale here are 28 12" singles, all in mint condition, (Sleeves as well as vinyl) from Ian Levine's labels Nightmare, Motorcity, and Passion. I want to sell them as a job lot, so am looking for £110 including postage which works out at less than £4 per record, which considering some of these sell for £20 isn't a bad deal Postage more if outside the UK I'll accept Paypal, cheques, or cash, and will consider a good trade for them. The Andantes - Lightning Never Strikes Twice - Nightmare 87 Barbara Randoplh - I Got A Feeling - Nightmare 89 Richard ‘Popcorn’ Wylie - Love Is My Middle Name - Nightmare 99 Chuck Jackson - All Over The World - Nightmare 103 Hattie Littles - Running A Fever - Nightmare 104 Bill Griffin - First In Line - MOTC 1 Edwin Starr - Let’s Fall In Love Tonight - MOTC 10 Kim Weston - Emotion - MOTC 12 Frankie Gaye - Extraordinary Girl - MOTC 23 (Autographed) Francis Nero - Footsteps Following Me - MOTC 24 J J Barnes - Build A Foundation - MOTC 25 (Autographed) David Ruffin - Hurt The One You Love - MOTC 33 Sherrie Taylor - Weak Hearted - MOTC 36 Bettye Lavette - Surrender - MOTC 39 Lois Reeves - Patience Is A Virtue - MOTC 40 Edwin Starr - Breaking Down The Walls Of Heartache - MOTC 41 Beans Bowles & The Swinging Tigers - Motorcity Magic - MOTC 44 Billy Preston & Syreeta - Watching The Hands Of Time - MOTC 55 Mable John - Time Stops - MOTC 60 Frankie Gaye - My Brother - MOTC 69 (Autographed) Ronnie McNeir - Take The First Step - MOTC 81 Edwin Starr - Just Another Fool In Love - MOTC 82 (Autographed) Bettye Lavette - Good Luck - MOTC 83 Bettye Lavette - Good Luck - MOTC 83 (Two Copies) Jake Jacas - You Can’t Turn Back - MOTC 84 J J Barnes - I’ve Seen The Light - MOTC 87 (Autogtaphed) The Supremes - Hit & Miss - MOTC 88 The Exciters - Disintegrated - Passion 101 PM me if you are interested, first come first served. If they haven't sold by the 20th April, I'll consider splitting them and selling them individually.

  14. This is the best one I've got of him as a solo artist
  15. Apparently the reason it's so rare is Motown stopped the publication because of the copyright implications in using images of their labels. At the time, Simon Soussan rang me up and asked if I wanted to buy ten copies at a wholesale price. I's never spoken to him before in my life, but was well aware of his reputation, so I suggested he send me ten, sale or return, payment when I'd sold them, or he send me one copy so that I could have a look at it. A week later one copy arrived, I never ordered any more and never heard from him again. I gather that the copies that he had printed before the block was put on the book were eventually sold at one of the big US record fairs, hence a few copies have found their way into the UK.
  16. Pontins has been sold, the new owners said in an interview in the local paper that it would be business as usual. Those are the only things that are fact. The rest is just rumour.
  17. Sian says I have to say it's Rugby, but it's the 100 Club really......only just though.
  18. Talking of Woolworths, when I moved to Dudley, about 25 years ago, I was staggered to find the local Woolworths had multiple copies of the 'This Is Loma' series of albums. Of the seven albums in the series they had them all except Vol 2, and they were only £1 each. I bought quite a few albums that day
  19. Sent you a PM

Oooh I don't know about that Yes of course I will, but you will have to come and remind me, once I've had a few beers, any requests made three days early will have reached the rubbish bin part of my brain

Yes I have, From memory, although I know I've read it somewhere, when the record was originally played both sides where played as cover ups (I'm sure Dave Thorley was one of the DJs) by different DJs
  22. Send me a copy as well please Pete
