Thanks Neil, (and thanks Mikey for what you said) And I'll correct an untruth again ! I didn't say Ian Levine was a disgrace and an embarassment to the scene, I said his actions in perpetrating a deliberate fraud (ie sending copies of the Four Vandals to the States and denying they were anything to do with him) were a disgrace and an embarassment to the scene. And I still think they were, and struggle to believe anyone would think any different. This was a deliberate attempt to defraud every person who considers themselves a member of the Northern Soul scene ! I stand by what I said. For this I was called a member of the Hitler Youth (A well thought out response I had to concede, a little racist, because I'm English and probably wouldn't have been allowed to join because we were at war with Germany then, and technically incorrect, because I'm nearly fifty, and am almost certainly too old to qualify for membership, but hey, who needs accuracy ) There is of course a subtle difference between calling Ian Levine, and calling Ian Levine's actions, a disgrace and an embarassment to the scene. Of course it all depends on your comprehension of the way the English language is used, and I can't be held responsible for a lack of comprehension in others. It's been fun reading this thread, but I won't be back on here for a while.- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons

That's very generous of you John, it was really only meant as a joke. Cheers- Price Guides
Well I think your guide is super duper, out of this world, essential, brilliant, awesome, and magnificent, and just waiting to fill a space on my bookshelf alongside the other copies John ! What's happening to the second copy ???? Seriously, when's it due out John ?- Swing Value Please
Apology accepted, and of course you are selfish and riduculous at times.......you're a woman aren't you- Swing Value Please
Yes I said that Tim Whitset should know, because I was already in contact with him about other aspects of the discography. Do you think he just picked me at random and then emailed me information about a record at random. I'll happily admit I had no idea who the record was prior to Tim emailing me. However, Soulful Kinda Music is primarily a site about Soul music discographies, and if an artist emails me with a correction to a discography, I'm going to include that on the site. I'm certainly not going to say I can't include the information he has given me because it might upset someone in the UK because they have got the record covered up ! To expect that is both selfish and ridiculous !- Soul Police - The Charge Sheet
You might have DJ'ed in other music genres, but that counts for absolutely nothing when it comes to DJing on the Northern scene, and as your post clearly shows, you haven't DJed at all on the Northern scene, so you are still a wannabe DJ as far as Northern goes.- Backbeat Club ?
Knew I'd seen it somewhere- Backbeat Club ?
BLackbeat was in Bolton, but wasn't Backbeat something to do with Joe Dutton ?- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons

So, because I write about Soul music I'm a member of the Hitler Youth, although I fail to see any connection whatsoever between my musings on Black American music from the 1960s (Mostly), and a German military recruiting organisation from the 1940s. If you can manage to make that connection, that frightens me considerably ! However, what I don't do is perpetrate a deliberate fraud upon thousands of people just to massage my own ego, which is precicely what you did with the Four Vandals. What's more I don't think I said YOU were a disgrace, I think I said your actions were, and that I do think your actions were a disgrace and an embarassment to the Soul scene, there, I've said it again now. Funnily enough, I personally think the Four Vandals was a smashing piece of pop music that could quite possibly have made the charts on the back of Steve Brookstein's success, if it hadn't been disguised and touted as something it wasn't. Strangly enough I've never slagged off the Motor City stuff either, because although it wasn't really to my taste, I understood the passion and committment that had gone into making the music as a tribute to those artists. It's a shame really, somewhere you've lost your way and have turned into the very same bigot that you claim to despise, insisting your version of NS is the only true way and insulting everybody who disagrees with you. It's pathetic really. These are my last words on the subject because my time is more valuable to me to waste it in responding to your petty tirades. You've conveniently ignored the comment I made about you suddenly re-apperaing on SS to promote the box set again as well.- Souled Out The Film
Just been an article on BBC Midlands today about the filming tomorrow asking for people aged between 16 and 21 to turn up 'dressed Northern Soul'.- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
Well yes, we've had this conversation before. I can't ever remember writing it, and you can't ever produce the proof i did write it. Personally I think it's just a fabrication of your over active imagination. However, if I did write it, I probably had good reason to However, perhaps it's just me being a cynic, but what a surprise it was to see you turning up on SS again. Just as it coincides with the need to promote the all new DVD set................................. So transparent !- Ian Levine, Motorcity, Centre City, Blackpool Mecca, And Swons
What ? Before you played the videos, or after- What Was The Name Of The Bloke
Because when he was a bloke he had a walking stick. Funny story about that. Every month Rob the stick used to turn up at Blackburn allnighter and prop his stick up in a corner. Every month, Jim Eddlestone and Soap used to try and steal it, remove the ferrule off the end, saw about a quarter inch off the bottom of the stick, put the ferrule back on, and replace the stick in the venue. It got shorter, and shorter over a period of months.- Rare Soul Fanzines For Sale
Bloody hell, at those prices you can have two back issues of SoulfulKinda Music !- What Was The Name Of The Bloke
