Your Ideal Dj Nighter Line Up
It's quite a hard one this, you could go for all the top names and still not get the mix right, so I've tried to look at how the night would flow with these names Me (What the hell it's my niter line up and I like the records I play , and someone's got to do the warm up spot) Keith Money & John Weston double decking (Scotland's best export for years, with Birmingham's nightmare, superb together) Ady Croasdell (I wonder how many previously unreleased tracks Ady has introduced us to over the years ?) Chris Anderton (A DJ's DJ. I don't think I've ever heard Chris do a bad set, and someone's got to play some Disco ) Saus (The two nights when Saus 'took on' Butch at the 100 Club were awesome. So Saus is in for the gritty R & B he plays) Russ Vickers & Gavin Page double decking for an hour (Two top class DJs who can blend Sixties through to Modern seamlessly) Roger Banks (Playing Soul rather than R & B, he's rather good at it when he gets the chance) Shifty (Saffend's wide boy with a lot of front, and he had one or two decent records as well) Keith Money & John Weston again (Sunday nights in the pub at Prestatyn, the best set of the whole weekend, so they deserve two spots) Derek Allen (For his sheer enthusiasm as well as the records he owned. So many good memories of Derek) There you go, ten hours of top DJs and top Soul music, not all obvious choices, but I have respect for each and every one of these guys and am lucky enough to count most of them as friends.

In It To Win It
I think it all depends what he wants to do with the records. If he wants to DJ it'll all go on rarer end stuff £100+, and his 16.5K won't go far. If he wants to have a nice collection of Soul records you can get an awful lot of vinyl for 16.5K. Guessing though, if he's not currently on the scene, I'd say he will probably spend a fair chunk on some big money Oldies because if he sold up years ago those will be the records he remembers, so they will be the ones he wants. Trouble is, the reason Oldies have rocketed in price over the last few years is because there are lots of people who sold up years ago and now have a bit of wedge available to them and are buying back the sounds they remember. If it was me with 16.5K I'd settle my mortgage off, clear the credit cards, and then waste the rest on beer probably, but if I had to spend it on records I'd add probably twenty records to my DJ box, but then again I'm well known as a DJ prostitute

Northern Soul H Q Outside The Uk ?
Personally I think if the Northern Soul HQ moves anywhere it's going to be Germany. A big, big scene that supports loads of Soul nights and at least five weekenders a year that I can think of off the top of my head: Nurenberg (Running as a weekender for over ten years now), Hamburg (Less than a fortnight to go ), Frankfurt, Bamberg, and Lubeck (Where N/S was the smallest room out of five and there were getting on for 3000 people on site), and whilst it might have all started from the Scooter scene, it's definitely evolved into a Soul scene now with very little scooter scene promotional involvement. Some of the German DJs are also top notch and could work regularly at top allnighters over here because they have the records and style to match the best of the UK's DJs. Ten years ago that wasn't the case, but the top German guys have spent just as much time, effort, and money as the top UK guys over the last few years which is an achievement to be proud of because don't forget that it's nearly all a foreign language for them ! I've been DJing in Germany for ten years now, and I love it. No politics, no oldies, no newies, just good Soul and R & B. Overall the country tends to be cleaner than the UK so there's virtually no litter blowing around in the streets, you feel safer in the cities, and the beer and food are usually superb. What's more nearly everyone speaks English which really helps this ignorant old git who never bothered learning German when he had the chance thirty years ago at school. I've got a reasonable grasp of French, but I've never DJ'ed there

2007
The plan was to persuade Ady to let Hannah in as a guest, but of course she wouldn't get her single then, so Nick would have to sell his leaving him without a copy. I never got round to telling Ady about it though

Birth Date Soul?
Dunno mate. I got the Clovers info from a book called 'On This Day In Black Music History'. It's got a page a day through the year and has all sorts of random facts about black music for that day in various years. Unfortunately whilst there is a page for 27th May, there isn't anything for 1970. Didn't realise you were still such a young pup anyway, sure you haven't knocked five years off

Birth Date Soul?
The number 1 song on the R & B chart on 1st September 1951 was 'Don't You Know I Love You' by the Clovers. Happy Birthday !

Promoters, Whats Going On ?
I fail to see why this is a problem. I've always taken the view that a DJ's job is to get people up, otherwise why not just have a jukebox. So why is a problem finding DJs who play originals ??? The way your point reads implies that only DJs who play boots are capable of getting people dancing. Just not true.
