  1. My mate (who's a non-soulie) has just bought the DVD of Peter Kay's, Driven To Distraction. He said "There's a song on there that sounds like it should be Northern Soul, right at the start". So I borrowed the DVD and watched it last night, he was right. In the opening sequence you can hear the familiar voice singing "On her way to work one morning.........". I can assure you he hasn't heard me play it! I was wondering if Peter Kay was bit of a Soul fan as in Phoenix Nights first series you can hear Soulful Shack playing as background music of one scene. Also on the DVD he does a deleted scene where Brian Potter mentions dancing at Clubs in the North West, in the commentary he says about they used to be Northern Soul Clubs. Anybody know if he's into soul?
  2. Or should that be inside?
  3. Dan still likes his C/U's , obviously attended quite a few scooter runs in the 80's? We're the Wrecking Crew, gotta do......... Worst record - Dean Barlow's Third Window
  4. Two records that I've purchased in the past month that are newies to me are: Barbara Mason - Ain't Got Nobody - Arctic - recommended to me by Brett. Larry Davis and The Marvels - The Magic Is Gone - Decca - recommended to me by Dave Abbott. Newies to me, but I bet not to others on here!
  5. One Person's Oldie is another Person's Newie and vice versa! I think Wayne C mentioned this on another thread. Something along the lines of that he goes to Stoke, which is to many a predominantly Oldies venue, but not necessarily to him. Anyway I'm looking forward to hearing some newies on a tape from Brett.
  6. So, are you saying you've kept them purely to make money? Why do you not just sell them for what you paid for them, that way you haven't lost anything?
  7. You would have loved my do then, as it was quite the opposite!
  8. How about contacting Ady Croasdell for some sort of permission for doing this first? Or even see if they've (Ace/Kent) any plans to release it on a 7" single in the future?
  9. That would be where Winston was dancing!
  10. Ditto! >> Have A Look << The most I've ever spent on a record is £44, I just cannot justify spending large amounts of cash on records. . The dearest record on my playlist was £35 (inc postage), the cheapest £3 from a secondhand shop. But in all honesty I think the only time that price comes into it, is when people are selling stuff. Price doesn't always equal worth!
  11. Anyway here's what I played last night (What I can remember playing anyway ), not necessarily in this order: Marv Johnson - You Got The Love I Love - Tamla Motown Marvin Gaye - Chained - Tamla Jimmy Delphs - Almost - Karen The Undisputed Truth - You Got The Love I Need - Gordy The Contours - Just A Little Misunderstanding - Gordy Syl Johnson - Try Me - Twilight Majestic - Send My Baby Back To Me - Equator Barbra Mercer - Hey!! - Golden World Barbara Mason - Ain't Got Nobody - Arctic The Occasions - There's No You - Big Jim The Precisions - Instant Heartbreak (Just Add Tears) - Drew Barbara Randolph - I Got A Feeling - Soul Eddie Kendricks - Date With The Rain - Tamla Joe Turner - Two Loves Have I - Phillips (French) The Exits - You Got To Have Money - Gemini Edwin Starr - I Have Faith In You - Ric Tic Edwin Starr - If My Heart Could Tell The Story - Gordy The Five Stairsteps - Change Of Pace - Windy C The Superiors - Let Me Make You Happy - MGM Promo Lorraine Rudolph - Keep Coming Back For More - Jetstream The Voice Masters - You've Hurt Me Baby - Bamboo Little Charles - Guess I'll Have To Take What's Left -Jewel Tammi Terrell - I Can't Believe You Love Me - Motown Kim Weston - Helpless - Gordy Martha & The Vandellas - My Baby Loves Me - Gordy Edwin Starr - Girls Are Getting Prettier - Ric Tic Jackie Wilson - (I Can Feel Those Vibrations) This Love Is Real - Brunswick The Avons - Since I Met You Baby - Excello Jimmy Robins - I Can't Please You - Jerhart Jimmy Norman - This I Beg Of You - Samar The Magicians - (Just A Little) Faith And Understanding - Kent. Anyway no big ticket items, but what I'd like to think isn't the same old same old!

I don't suffer from a lack of money, purely because I've never had any money to have a lack of it!
  13. I've got this picture in my head now of you looking like the shopkeeper from Little Britain! Ged shouting upstairs: "MARGARET! MARGARET! Have we got any soul records in stock?"
  14. I couldn't find any mention of these 7" singles on their site?! :search:

  19. Pete, have you got a copy of Love by Gladys on O-Gee for sale?
  20. Even if it's a big company still doesn't make it right, Baz.
  21. Pete, Why not just charge them all £5 postage from now on? That way they don't have the option of not insuring it and maybe avoiding this happening again in the future. I know that Recordmanx in the States charges an extra $10 for any international delivery paid thru Paypal, I wonder if this is for a similar reason. I'm sure you left him (rasyak) appropriate feedback!
  22. A copy sold for £42 today on Ebay. Also I'm sure it's The Devonnes not Davonnes!

I've copied the following from Manships bootleg guide, I hope it helps. Original is black/silver label with moulded label on vinyl. Bootleg is yellow stick on label on styrene pressed in Los Angeles with delta # 101921 in the dead wax.
