1987 Anyone Remember It?
No, just used to see the club patches on the runs. Thought they were just West Country Bumpkins! Check out my old clubs name on my mudguard! My prize winning Lambretta Mikey, I know this is quite a way off, but I'm planning on going to Saracen's in March. I got the week off work and my mate (brother-in-law) lives in Brockworth near Cheltenham/Gloucester. If you're there I'll buy you a pint.

Sound Clip Wanted, Thanks
Has anybody got a soundclip for the following, thanks in advance. Syl Johnson - The Same Kind A Thing (Twinight) This was one of the suggestions I received for cheap originals, sometime back now. Another suggestion I got was for: The Precisions - Instant Heartbreak (just add tears) - Drew, which I received thru the post this morning. So as I was altering my wants list, I realised I hadn't managed to hear the above track. If anybody could assist me, it would be appreciated. BTW one last thing, could you email, supercorsa@btopenworld.com, it to me as I can never seem to play or download tunes from the forum, think it's to do with Norton.

Anyone Know This Seller?
Pete, I can understand record dealers having to make a profit/living. What I couldn't understand was why would you let people know what you paid for it? Or do you think he doesn't realise this might put people off bidding?

Soul Reading Material Suggestions
I was just sitting here pondering if any of you could recommend any fanzines or books. I've only got copies of the following books: The In Crowd - Mike Ritson & Stuart Russell , Casino - Dave Shaw , Soul Survivors - Russ Winstanley (didn't know any better at the time!). As for fanzines last month I got a copy of Mr Rimmers - Soulful Kinda Music. The one time I attended Scenesville, I bought a copy of Derek Pearsons - Shades of Soul (actually bought Majestic - Send My Baby Back after reading this). I even have a copy of Togetherness somewhere. Being the tight git that I am, when at a do I think shall I buy a mag or another drink or two? Unfortunately the drink always wins. Anyway, before all the Authors get on here plugging their mags & books, can anyone who actually reads them point me in the right direction. Thanks.

What's Acceptable In A Dj Box?
I didn't really want to get involved in this topic as I am not a DJ nor am I a dancer! My opinion is that of my own and no one else. If I am going to a do and am paying good money to get in, then I expect the DJ's to being playing original vinyl. If I discovered that they were not I would feel in some way cheated. Let me put it this way, before the 100 Club in January a few of us off here met up in a pub. During the evening Janine showed me her box , within which she showed me her Palmer copy of Al Williams (complete with Janine stamp). At the sight of which I got a little excited as I would only ever normally see one of these in a book (I only own a copy on the Goldmine Wigan 25th series ), just because I can't afford these top tunes does not mean I don't appreciate the efforts some people go to getting them. As for promoters having a closed shop mentality I'm not too sure, but then again I'm not a DJ. My impression from the outside looking in , is that some promoters are doing things for money where others do it for personal reasons. I've only met Chris W once (in the aforementioned pub) and he came across as a thoroughly decent bloke, after reading his post about NCSC last Saturday you can tell that he is not in it for the money. If he was, he wouldn't be on here posting apologies and so forth. To close with, can we all agree to disagree? This scene would be ever so boring if we all thought the same. Now who's going to start the Oldies v Newies debate?

There's listings on Dave Rimmer's excellent Soulful Kinda Music. Or you could try Dave Flynn's Anorak's Corner.

Live Acts At A Niter......yes Or No?
Saw Edwin Starr at a few allnighters on scooter runs during the 80's, he never disappointed me! Dean Parrish at the 100 Club 25th was just excellent! So for me I suppose it's a yes, however I think most on here have seen acts that have given poor live performances and that has put people off live acts IMO.
