  3. This film was done by Pat Costigan a good few years back... Just seen it posted on youtube and would like to share it with you... Had the pleasure of helping out on this project and meeting the original members and owner who passed away since.. A nice slice of history.....
  4. Its like falling into a barrel of boobs with a constant erection... I know some folk who go meet the postie on the path, they are like children at xmas.... Nothing like the smell of vinyl in the morning post...
  5. Looking for a copy of this.. Jean Elias.... How long can i go on.. Backbeat Records... Cheers....
  6. Many of these batttered looking 45s play fine, got quite a few from the states for bargain prices as listed vg-.. The damage is in the lable more on this and other copies it seems.. For playing at home you could want a clean copy but for playing out loud you get many of these records, i hear plenty out with a little snap crackle and pop on the intro, when it kicks in its not too bad... At least this looks intact, some records bought with slits, held together with lollipop sticks .... Gives a new meaning to vinyl junkies...
  7. Not the djs thats for sure.. Well not the djs who just dj, many are promoters and record dealers too., thats a different ball game!..
  8. A good point very well put mate!
  9. What a joy to read this my freind... There aint nothing like that feeling.. Respect... A good point by Pikey with regards to the young crew doing there own thing, i agree on the no outside influence, just do your own thing... Thats fine if they have the numbers, i know plenty but they are spread far and wide, some cross promotions BY YOUNG PROMOTERS maybe to bring them all together.. The younger end and older mix free and easy at our events, we encourage young collector/ djs to play alongside the older brigade and it seems to work fine and long may it last... The key is that the older crowd are still very young at heart , not ready for the pipe and slippers just yet! My version of younger lot are early 20s to early 30s, the teenage crowd coming through is a different thing i guess.. When i was 18 i thought anybody over 25 was fossil .. The very young crowd should and maybe need to just do what they wanna do.... A good topic indeed...
  10. What a show and great crowd.. Lee Fields , the best live soul artist i have seen.... He started with the Carl Carlton track " Two timer " , what a man and what a great band too.. This track last night sounded oh so good... Nice to meet Godzilla from soul source.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MahsaJU9dMM&feature=related
  11. Great post Andy... Thats gets us all well in the mood for tonight now....
  12. Going to Band on the wall tomorrow with a group and also getting to dj this event as a freind doing the event dropped out.. Really up for this and more so after seeing the feedback from London.... Still tickets left for Manchester.. £15 in advance and £17 on the door the websites says.. Look forward to seeing a good few others off here on Thursday.... Band on the Wall is a great venue for live music and with the refurb the sound system is real quality...
  13. Looking forward to the Manchester event ..Ticket sales really good says the manager but still quite a few left, will keep people updated...
  14. Just got home from work and Lydia told me the news about the closing of Greatstone rare soul club event.. So so sad, its been the cornerstone of my diet on quality rare soul all these years, i have been a regular there for how long,?? maybe 10 years or more.. Introduced so many others to this little gem.. The music as been of the highest order and i have met so many freinds through going there.. Always made the effort when possible to attend and also bring along others too.. I know that nothing lasts forever and not enough younger folk to take the place of many regulars that have stopped going for various reasons.. Thanks Tony/ Paul/ Mark for so many good times/ great tunes and freindship over the past dozen years or so.... One door closes and another one opens maybe, i should know that with rare soul promotions.. Will catch up soon...
