Yet More Northern On The Tv
If you have a look at for sale/wants section, the thread "Northern soul DVDs" in Dvd No. 3 Pete Smith has it for sale, it was called "Out On The Floor" I think that was the one. Paul

Wigan's Chosen Few
"Kipper" Rimmer from Newton Le Willows and Anne Rogers from Standish/Shevington, were difinitely in it. There were some "auditions on one of the weekday sessions at the Casino, I think it was on a Wednesday night. Little did anyone know what an attrocity it would become. After Tony Blackburn on TOTP introduced them "performing a new dance called the Footsee" many of the dancers stayed away from the allnighters.

Andre Crouch & the Disciples "Christian People" was an early Wigan spin I seem to remember. Paul

More Northern On Tv
I thought it sounded a bit different, Somewhere I have a Barbara Lewis album with it on(also "someday we're gonna love again"), havn't played it for years. Didn't someone mention the Capitols version on here a few weeks ago? Also it was good to see the Teen Turbans on After Hours 3. Not the most soulful sound but a good happy singalonga dex type track!

More Northern On Tv
In the last series, in one episode it was northern instrumentals. They played Sliced Tomatoes, Bok To Bach and the Spy. Last night they also played Barbara Lewis "Hello Stranger" Linda Jones(I think) "Hypnotised" and I was racking my brains at the instrumental they played, which I hadn't heard for years and I'm sure it was "Trampoline" Spencer Daivis Group.

Brown Bombers & Soul Partners - Wait For Me
Always loved the Brown Bombers track from when it was played by the Soul Spinners 4, local djs at Burscough Football Club in about 73. Also the Hamond Bros & Maggie was billed as Soul Over Easy. I know it came out on UK london in about 74/75. was it on USLe Cam, same as the Edie Robin vocal "There Must Be A Love Somewhere". By the way, was this a legit release? Paul

What Was The First Record You Heard Or Danced To
In 1970, At the grand old age of 12 I sneeked out of Boys Brigade to go to the disco down the road. The first record I remember dancing to was "Third Finger Left Hand" Martha Reeves

Tracks You Associate With Yate
Nightwatch is worse that I remembered. When I was Djing in Plymouth in about 79 a mate had payed loads of money for it at Yate & I refused to play it for him. I stuck to my reissues and boots of far better sounds. Could be another thread playing reissues & boots rather than nightwatch! err, perhaps we shouldn't go there Paul

Tracks You Associate With Yate
- Fast Wigan Stompers
Manys the Slip was definately a Levine Play. At first when he brought it back from the states he was claiming it was the vocal to Bok To Back- Fave Blue Eyed Soul Record
That was one when played at Wigan that I hated as much as Gay Lewis & the Playboys. For some strange reason though I didn't mind Tommy Sands "The Statue". I wonder if it was because Statue is just a dance tune and the others are Love songs with a dance beat- Anyone Help?
Didn't they do a version of "My Sugar Baby" Paul- Troy Keyes
Also, wasn't he lead singer with the High Keyes of "Livin' a lie" fame- Tracks You Associate With Yate
Sorry I was a bit slow with a reply there Paul- Tracks You Associate With Yate
Wakefield sun "trypt on love" or some such thing. Talking of crap, wasn't the nightwatch "lips to your heart" a Yate sound? I only went once and wasn't particularly impressed. Paul- A Topical Weather Related Item
When we find the winner with the best suggestion can we sing "Freeze a Jolly Good Fellow"- Tracks You Associate With Yate
I don't know why because I was always led to believe that ALL sounds were discovered by Russ Winstanleys uncle.- Fave Blue Eyed Soul Record
Dean Parish Determniation possibly. Reminds me of Mr Ms- R&b
Next we'll be playing Elvis Parsley.- Who Wouldn't You Play
If presley has a place in the "modern" soul scene then I don't think I'll bother. I have heard all the crap abouth the sounds played now are more soulful than in the Wigan era. I think there is such a lot of selective "right on soulfulness" that it can make a mockerey of enjoyment of a scene that consists of a love of predominantly soulful dance sounds.
