Gordon Berry & The Motortown Orchestra (Sport Records)
Cheers guys - and Happy New Year! Yes, release at the same time is a possibility - but still strange that The Abstract Reality 'Gordon Berry' credit wasn't also corrected at the same time. Anyone ever seen an Abstract Reality with a different credit on the instrumental side? Cheers Richard

Gordon Berry & The Motortown Orchestra (Sport Records)
Hi everyone Just interested if anyone has any info or thoughts on Gordon Berry & the Motortown Orchestra please as related to Sport records. You might need your anorak on for this one The flip side of Tony Daniels - How Lonely (Sport #103) had the instrumental credited to Gordon Berry & the Motortown Orchestra. This was reputedly the first release and the story goes that it was withdrawn because it was a fairly obvious reference to Berry Gordy and Motown - to which somebody (presumably Gordy) objected. There is then another version of Sport #103 where the instrumental flip side is credited to Tony Daniels. This is generally regarded to be the second re-issued release. All of the above may well be true. However, the next release on the label by The Abstract Reality - Love Burns Like A Fire Inside (Sport #104) also has an instrumental flip and it too is credited to Gordon Berry & the Motortown Orchestra Just made we wonder whether the Tony Daniels credited Sport #103 disc actually came before the Gordon Berry credited version - and that the Gordon Berry credit was then used again purposely on The Abstract Reality 45. Otherwise, why would The Abstract Reality disc be released with the Gordon Berry credit if the previous release had already been withdrawn, and/or why was it also not replaced with a non-Gordon Berry version? Nothing on the labels or the deadwax that is different on Sport #103 other than the different name on the label on the instrumental side. Cheers Richard

Detroit Soul Playlists - Now Listen On Soundcloud
Well - uncanny - turns out it was a whole year since Dean was good enough to let me guest on his superb show again. This time Tulip Radio - and sadly Boundary Sound in Newark had shut down It was actually 21 December 2011 - and my last guest spot had been 21 December 2010 Really enjoyed it and Dean did a top class job holding it together with a proper bout of 'man flu'. Here's what I played from the collection - couple of Christmas records thrown in - and tried to mix it up a bit style-wise: 1. Len Bland & His Hi-Notes - Operator (Hi-Q) 2. Soundcloud - A Great Temporary Alternative To Refosoul?
Hi all While recognising the tricky issues Mike and the Mods are facing in relation to getting Refosoul going again, I have been frustrated by its absence. Someone put me onto Soundcloud which is a legit external site where you can set up an account and store soundfiles etc. This is free for up to 2 hours of sounds. Thereafter there are various fees, but nothing astronomical. https://www.soundcloud.com Anyway, I know there are other sites like DivShare etc. and I'm not very good at this kind of stuff generally, but I tried out Soundcloud tonight and it's really easy to use. All you need to do it set up an account, which is really easy, and then very simply upload your files on an easy to follow dashboard format. It is as easy as, or even easier than, uploading soundfiles straight to Refosoul. And the great thing is - Mike please correct me if I have got this wrong - because it's a legit external site you can just drop the Soundcloud link in to your post right here on Soul Source. Brilliant! I only have 15 or so files uploaded so far but please have a look at my Soundcloud sounds under Premium Stuff. Just as an example here's one of my all time favourite tracks I uploaded earlier (click on the Listen on Soundcloud.com link under the player below if you want to go straight there and see other sounds etc.): https://soundcloud.com/user1502162/fantastic-four-im-gonna-live I would encourage anyone to use this for posting authentic stuff recorded from disc, instead of posting up those darned YouTube clips!! Cheers Richard

Billboard New Release 45 Listings From Back In The Day
Billboard magazine definitely advertised records that never came out. For instance, I have Billboard adverts showing Jimmy Randazzo on Wingate and also "Don't Make Me A Story Teller" by the Holidays on a Revilot advert. Cheers Richard

Artist Info Please - Jason Steel (M-S)
Yes, I like it Robb - glad you do too. Blue eyed I think - especially going by the sound of the other (earlier) M-S release under the name 'Jason' which had a more mainstream sound. I would even go as far as to say 'You Know Your Breaking My Heart' sounds quite 'crossover' - whatever that is Cheers Richard
