  1. The Tom Jones version ain't too bad
  2. I cannot recall ever seeing one, though that does not mean much. Don't think I have seen any 45's on the Muse label
  3. Any clues to which one? 4 45's on Alon, I think
  4. Thankfully, the 45 dropped through the door today, so all good. Must have just been sitting in some sorting office somewhere. Nothing untoward or giveaways on the packaging. Many thanks for your input though gents Mike
  5. Cheers all. Didn't get a chance to get to the post office, but will make enquiries tomorrow. Years ago a package took a couple of months, but not holding out too much hope on this occasion
  6. Not yet Bob. Wasn't a particularly expensive record so didn't think would be the case, but I will ask when I visit the sorting office in a bit. It has only.just exceeded the 20 days they say to allow for incoming international items. Sure I have read before that packages sent from abroad to UK recorded are not trackable once here so I suppose I was seeing if anyone clarified this. If so, will have to just wait & see
  7. Firstly, this is nothing against the seller, I have no issues about it being sent. I have details of the package being sent from Spain on 30 July Checking the shipping reference it advises '04/08/2012 Delivery to the destination international office' This I understand means it is in the UK. Just looking for advice on the best way forward with the post office? Went to my local sorting office last week who just gave me a customer service number, which seemed to just have recorded messages for various scenarios. Have filled out a couple of 'missing post' forms on the website but not had a reply yet. Gonna go back to the sorting office tomorrow, but does anyone know if overseas packages are tracked once in the UK. The reference is 13 characters, similar to a UK recorded/special delivery item Thanks Mike
  8. Ahh. I will listen again without my friend, JD, around Bob. Certainly sounded the same to me last night. Sure it was the same, maybe some overdubs of different instruments here and there. Better clean out my cloth ears, lol. Thats the end of that one then Cheers Mike
  9. I was playing the above 45's by Bobby Jones & Ruby Andrews respectively, tonight, which both have the same backing track. Bobby Jones credits Maurice simpkins as writer & produced by Kirk - Stubbs - Wilborn - Jones. Ruby Andrews credits Bridges, Knight & Eaton as writers and producers, with Terry also. Wondering how it works? In the sense that no writers match. Were backing tracks just hawked around/stolen with the credits relating to the lyrics only? Which came first? To me the Ruby Andrews production sounds far clearer. Ta Mike
  10. 'Rainy side of the street' for me. Great lyrics & groove.
  11. Our local shop had about 4/5 copies. I got one, think it was £6.99, so probably find it online for similar price, I imagine Mike
  12. I bought a buy it now 45 mid-January only 20 miles up the road in Dagenham. Never received, but talking to people I am starting to think he got a better offer after I won it. It was only £8 but doesn't turn up on 45 much. It's the first that had come up in a year. I reckon he got a message after offering more. The seller said 3 packages from that batch had gone missing, however, doesn't add up that of probably 50 recprds I have ordered this year from all over that one goes missing. Annoying, seller also seemed to refund me all to readily
  13. Isn't 'Teddy Mack & The Mackinteers Hey, Hey, Gypsy Woman' Ricky Nelson? Just wondering, have these been made in Belgium as some have been slowed down? 2000 copies of each or all three? Some nice tunes I would like to own btw
  14. It was LITTLE DEANS COMBO Drop Out (PEORIA), basically a dirty green onions type tune I quite fancied Marc. Seen it up for some ridiculous prices so would of had it at the $20 price it didn't sell for.
  15. Not really had a problem from overseas packages, however, I ordered a 45 mid-January from Rainham (28 miles from me in Southend). This has never come. Was only £7.50 and the seller kindly refunded, but strange when all the overseas ones are received. I would rather have the record as it had been pretty hard to find. The seller said 3 packages from the same batch had not been received. Might be lucky and its just got stuck somewhere but doubt it. Mike
  16. Thanks Bob, appreciated. Unfortunately not - it was a little last minute, but only noticed in last hour & took me a while to think of asking here. I have messaged the seller since to see if they have a change of heart as the item didn't sell. Here's hoping thanks for the offer again Mike
  17. Please PM if able to oblige. Just realised seller does not ship to UK. Only on phone so can only give item description and seller name Many thanks in advance if anyone able to assist Mike
  18. I got stung £15.60 yesterday for a package quoting $59 on the customs sheet - bummer Mike
  19. Looking for a copy of this please. Not booked to high but unsure of current value. Please PM with price etc. Many thanks Mike
  20. Can be listened to at the radio 2 website, but only available for a week from initial airing i think
  21. Around 83/84 the local police ran a disco (Peelers disco - pun intended) - I would have been 13/14. Mod was still quite big locally and I think it would have to be Benny Spellman - Fortune Teller that most reminds me of the time. At the time got the bandy 45 & lp with other new orleans stuff (showmen - it will stand, Ernie K-Doe - A certain girl etc) which was great. I think a lot of the joker 45's came out so Peanut Duck was also played alot. Probably tunes like this have lent themselves to my penchant for r&b. A few early comps that have stayed with me are On the soul side (Kent) Nite-Life, the inferno comp mentioned above and sue story (vol 1 & 2) i think

  23. My daughters name is Martha Jean, however, I do not own any of Martha Jean Love 45's. Not sure if subliminal or the name just rolled off the tongue nicely!
  24. How about.......Gino Morese - Lived a good life (but died a miserable death)
