  1. c/u as Gino Washington, Pete sold it to me at the 100 club, Keb lent it to play a couple of times but, we could never agree a swap.
  2. Wasn't it an uncredited April/Blackwood acetate?
  3. Tony Smith replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Rob Marriott had it c/u as Chico Lamarr back in 1990 the week after he got it, I got one blind off Pat Brady for £100, I traded mine a few years later with Saus for cash and something I cant remember, hasn't turned up much, nice sound if you like the TSU Toronados-"Please Heart Dont Break" type of thing, I got a bit bored with it myself.
  4. Ahh, You're on about "Soft Walkin'" (which should've remained covered, with a ton of bricks!)
  5. Freddie Houston c/u as Herb Ward by Keb
  6. Unissued Trade Martin acetate
  7. Black Nasty: Audrey Matthews, Terrance Ellis (vocals); Jackie Cosper (guitar, background vocals); Thomas Carter (keyboards, background vocals); Mark Patterson (bass, background vocals); Artwell Matthews, Jr. (drums, background vocals); JMM's son, also had a label named after him; "ART"
  8. Unlikely the Jam/Art releases are less than legal, JMM had by this time been long established on the Detroit music scene as a label owner/producer etc., the Atco release being a major picking up on a successful local release for national distribution, think it's unlikely someone would press up a release they had already released and was probably still available, and Atco had no problem in licensing Calvin Williams from JMM's Northern De-La label release a year or so later.
  9. Have a spare Durettes, pm me with your price
  10. If no one else does, I'll post it up tomorrow
  11. Most would say The Falcons "I Found A Love" or Jerry Butler and The Impressions "For Your Precious Love" 1959-60, Detroit and Chicago respectively.
  12. on Goldmine CD "West Coast Winners", Ian Clark had one earlier this year. Think I've got Modern Soul Trio on CD somewhere?!
  13. It's "Strata", Ken, same label as Deadbeats "No Second Chance"
  14. World's Funkiest Band "When You're Alone" California Gold, c/u as George Jefferson, can still be got cheap, same record as Buddy Conner on Breakthrough at a fraction of the price,.

I stand corrected, I was a bit "tired"
  16. P.P Arnold still lives here, I think?, Sheila Ferguson!, Your definition of soul singers seems a bit questionable, Chapter 5 & M'cr Playboys soul?? Kiki Dee, Lorraine Silver, Helen Shapiro, surely this should be pop singers who have a record played on the scene?
  17. Remember you giving some welly at Stafford too, picked it up of Ady Pountain for £3.00
  18. The record in question is..Walter & The Untouchables "Can't Stop Loving You" Apollo, ferocious 400 mph stomper, Guy never had Walter & The Admerations, that was Pat Brady he played the "Life Of Tears" side, "Man O Man" was a later spin for Butch c/u as R.Davis & G. Tyler, now I'll let you get back to the modern soul story.
  19. Without sounding rude Barry, you wouldn't be DJ'ing at a traditional allnighter so the bootleg vs original isn't really relevant, I doubt if anyone would bother if you dropped in a Goldmine 7 among your house stuff, just as no one cared that Stuart Maconie's radio 2 Northern programmes were all from CD
  20. Originals only!, an exexption made say for legitimate vinyl releases of previous unreleased tracks i.e Kent 45's, and bollocks to the "It's What in the Groove Counts" apologists, I don't want to travel a couple of hundred mile to hear poor quality vinyl carvers lookilikes, or as occurred in the past, acetates cut from a tape that end only to launch into the next track on the source tape. If Berry Gordy thought his motto was being used to justify bootlegging and sharp practice, he'd send some very large blokes round to help change your mind. So what do you play Mr. Hubert Street, if that is your name? I've just seen on the other topic, Barry I presume
  21. Just to add Little Frankie Lee Don't make me cry PEACOCK Great little record, check out his "I Gotta Come Back" too Both seem to have missed being picked up on to any degree in spite of being superior to a lot of tripe played and cheaper too!
  22. That IS the connection!
  23. Keith Curtiss played c/u at Stafford by Guy as George Blackwell, didn't it come out of Bernie's barn, from Levines old collection? Got one out of Collectibles for $20 back in the good ol' set sale days (remember them?) As for Pete S' review of Tobbi Bowe, I disagree, Mamie Lee is limp and should still be languishing in £3 or best offer boxes!, in 20 years or so I've only seen Tobbi Bowe come up 3 or 4 times, I bought it of Ted Massey back in 89 or 90 for 125, then let it go last year for a price I couldn't refuse. Wasn't there rumoured to be a 2nd release by her on Patheway? there definately was a missing number I didn't have.
