  1. Hi Matt, nice one! Good to see you are using your time well
  2. Had a listen to Cliff's CD today and really loved the Love.peace and happiness track. What LP is this off? The whole thing was great but extra stars for making it so snazzy.
  3. They come up on ebay but always thrashed, good luck.
  4. is this the same track as the Brenton Wood cut of the same name?
  5. No I'm not, that's what mine cost out of the states 3 weeks ago The price will fall within the soul scene where it's fetching the hype price because it's in fashion (like Leroy Clofer a few years back) and at the end of the day it's a funk record so it has a shelf life.
  6. Really enjoyed John Lloyd and Soulhawks CD's today. I know it's been said before but I'll reiterate, the quality of this swap has been great so far. I hope mine have landed safely.
  7. have now also listened to Ady's (Hi Ady)some great stuff, loved the Persians and Hoagy Lands. Nearly put James Simpson on mine... have to say not many double up's so far.
  8. Does any one have a sound clip of this, I assume it's the same track as the Ree Florres Cheers
  9. so am I... sounds so much better than "namby pamby soul" which is what a lot of people use to described what I like
  10. If your friend want to sell it I's say this is a pretty good time to do so
  11. Yeah but that's the hyped value, it wont be worth that in a year.
  12. I've got 10 CD's so far and listened to 2 of them (busy as all get out) Stand outs on them were both track 7, now my lucky number! On Dave Turner's it's the Jimmy Hudson cut which I wrote down years back and had forgotten about... brilliant! On Kev Cane's, The Debonaires, I hadn't heard this before.... what a tune! Cant wait to listen to the rest.
  13. It's out of the Carolinas and was discovered by Jason Perlmutter some years back and comped on Jazzman Carolina Funk about 3 years ago. Value seems to have wide range... I'd say it's worth 400quid but it's got a lot of hype from some soulies who would say double that.
  14. Joan, that was playing to the "educated" ex-pat NS scene, truth is if we all lived in the UK most of the punters would be going to oldies nights.... The gig's where it is Australian's out to dance to some soul is a different story, they are more than happy to dance to what they don't know and Paul went down a treat.
  15. not as much as most 45s
  16. Had a flood of 6 CD's arrive today, only had time to look at the tracklists, lots I don't know which is great... mine should arrive soon, sans tracklist again soory about that.
  17. hope you're keeping some good funk for when you come to oz, that would be a floor filler.... wish I could afford it, been after it for years but I'm spunking my money on messy lo-fi soul records I can't play to anyone here
  18. Really Po.... thats the only reason you bought it As for me, there's the Goldie lable:D
  19. picked the tracks, record and burn sat... out to you guys monday
  20. Funkyou! has one on the bay at the moment
  21. You could be forgiven for thinking the artists were held at gun point and made to lay down some of the rubbish you find on the other side of some gems. I know with a lot of 60's Australian garage the company would make them record a stock track on the A side and they could do one of their own for the B side... maybe in some cases it was the same stateside, or I'd like to think so...... 2 of the worst that spring to mind.... Rose Brooks - I'm moanin with the god awful They're coming to take me away........ What was she thinking Eunice Collins - At the hotel This has an intsro version on the flip with what sounds like a 5 year old kid playing the recorder on it
  22. Generally what it goes for in USD on ebay you can just change it to BPS for here. Nothing wrong with a haggle, though I can't be arsed.....

It's a sad thing. I hope he died knowing the work he did some 30yrs ago was much loved.
  24. this went for around 400quid a few years back on Manship
  25. I'd love to get in on this.
