You know you are lucky to have this problem, spare a thought for places like oz where there isn't a choice and we all try to get our slice of soul played under the one banner. Surely people will go the where they are going to hear the type of soul they like, or the dj's they like. Promoters will always have an agenda be it wanting the style of soul they like played or just simply wanting to run the show or worse still... just make some cash. At the end of the day it's the punters who decide where they want to be.
  3. THE ULTIMATE ARCHIVE COPY - NO NEED TO UPGRADE.....EVER!!!
  4. Hey Matt, so much funk is being spun by soul dj's these days though and this is so soulful. Coming out on Buddah I find it hard to believe it's as rare as it is and as unknown.
  5. One of the main points of this thread I stupidly left out... and that is, the dance policy of dancing to what you know is at odd's with what has driven the scene IMO and that's for dj's to play new discoveries.
  6. Any one know much about this record? I only know of a few of copies that came out of NY a few years back.
  7. Having DJ'd funk for years I know to keep the dancefloor full you need pepper your set with some tracks the dancers know but for the most part, when you have established the floor, people will dance all night. Not so in the northern scene, I can't think of any other scene where dancers choose what they dance to on a track by track basis. It can't have always been like this because all the records were unknown at some point, so when did this start happening and why?
  8. Looking for a copy of Soul For Sale on Geronimo PM or email me at goldiefunkt@yahoo.com Cheers

  10. I'd not disclose the value, your buyer will get slugged 10% when they go to pick it up. Put a maxium of $100 on the box.

So is the Poor boy and the Orphans. I put this on a mix earlier this year and had people ask about it, maybe it's just the circles I travel in but this never seems to turn up.

  20. When I got mine maybe 3yrs ago it obviously wasn't widely known to be booted as I beat a fair few other bidders on ebay for it It's not a record I could ever play out to the soul crowd here so I've only ever played it on radio, though I must say not sice I found out it wasn't real mostly due to my own disappointment. I'll get a real one oneday. You live and you learn!
