  1. Kent's putting Bill Bush out, licensed from the proper people of course, on Northern Soul's Classiest rareties Vol 2. I don't get how so many people seem to be against it, it seems like a very good soul dance record to me! But then again, I'm not a fan of 'Pyramid'.
  2. I need a loan, or a good scan or at least the label credits, writers, publisher produced by etc, PlEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeZ
  3. Ady Croasdell posted a gallery image in Soul Flyers
  4. Possibly it's poetic licence, Mr Sadot is in the entertainment industry after all. There was a time in the late 70s when a load of legal blues that you couldn't get busted for were about. They were iffy but I can't remember them taking seven people out. The trouble was they were horse pills and had bizarre side effects, Chris Harrop and I nearly cut short the Alarm's future career by giving them some down the Roxy when they were a punk group called the Toilets (prior to being mod group Seventeen). They were rough but certainly made you lively; lead singer Migsy won the 3.30 at Wincanton the next day.

It's the opening track on "Northern Soul's Classiest Rareties Vol 2", followed by Ty Karim 'You Just Don't Know' from master tape and then 22 more about which you'll have to wait and see. The Waves female version ('Is It Love Baby') won't be out for quite a while yet though!
  7. I used to be Marty Christian from the New Seekers, then I was Billy Beaumont!
  8. A loan of Don & Ron on White Cliffs A sound bite of Athens Rogues to compare the tape. Usual rates and gratitude forever. Cheers Ady
  9. We will probably hear avocal version of this sometime in the future made up by someone and said its along lost tape eg just like the magicians! link
  10. Has anyone heard from David Nathan? W He's fine, and visiting London this week, I'm meeting up with him on Thursday. I'll pass on your regards. Ady
  11. Hi Warren, it's an honour to have someone of your musical pedigree on here. I'm sure what Simon means is that he's intrigued by your many various and excellent productions and really enjoys them. I'm the same in this respect and yours is a name that crops up on many record labels of many varying artists and styles. Vicki Sue Robinson 'Turn The Beat Around' was a massive record among soul/dance fans over here on it's release and I've got several girl group sounding 60s records you produced, but for the life of me I can't remember what they are. With a writer it's easy to find out what they've written but it's tougher with producers. Could you remind us of some of them, particularily the 60s/early 70s ones of a soulful nature. Also I work for a record company Ace Records (UK) and we re-release a lot of 60s/70s soul material on our Kent label. If you're interested in licensing any of the productions that you control the masters on, we would be very interested. This single on discussion here would fit into our 'Modern Masterpieces' series. Our web site is www.acerecords.co.uk contact me off list if you are interested. Cheers Ady
  12. Hey cheeky, I'm a busy man. You're dead right I didn't cross check as much as I should have in those days. Still it means there's odd versions all over the place from back then.
  13. Right and wrong! It was called a soul scene before Dave coined the phrase; it was known as "Old Soul" round our way (we weren't very imaginative). In fact the first ever Northen boots by Jeff King of Leicester were on that label. However you're right that nobody minded pop records being played in the slightest. Apart from Round Robin, the Human Beinz, Frankie Valli and the Swinging Medallions spring to mind. Also Chubby Checker's Cum A La Be Stay is more poppy than any of those and was equally big.
  14. Then foetus, you'd know that most Kent LPs were on sale for a very long time (some are still available today). Your first statement "most" was wrong so I corrected you and your second statement "some" was right. It wasn't an argument I was merely righting your error as a lot of Kent collectors care about these things and you post with such an air of authority that they may have got the wrong picture
  15. That's better. Get it right.
  16. I've got an acetate of Val Simpson doing her demo of this. I keep meaning to play it. I'll do it down the next 100 Club. Along with the female version of Double Cooking which is by the Waves not the Whales as I incorrectly gibbered once.
  17. It's only semi-rare but it didn't stay on catalogue for longer than most Kent LPs.
  18. Soz, no technological brain. Send me your address off-list.
  19. Anyone know a Popcorn record called Big Ben I've got an acetate of one with no artist listed.
  20. There's a Maurice Simon & The Piemen on Carnival
  21. Pay Attention you dozy lot. I discovered it and sold the first copy to Ginger who played it that night at St Ives. Fact not brag.
  22. Soz not yet. I'm sure i've got a copy of the 25th for £99 somewhere. Ady
  23. I'm sure there are and I'll bear it all in mind for the next volume, good point and always a hard one to decide on which version to go for. For example I purposely made all the 6TS story mono as that's how we heard them down the club. Whereas on the Sue story Harlem Shuffle sounds great in stereo.
  24. One of mine, I'm afraid. The first copy was sold to Ginger at St Ives for £50, loads of money then, and it cleared the floor. but he stuck with it and it ended up a very big sound. i'd have it for myself if I knew how to bid.
  25. hey randy wood came to blackpool mecca once anyone remember that? link
