  1. Anyone heard of this, I've never seen it listed. It's the Joey Jefferson outfit, late 60s Ton Of Dynamite uptempo raw funk type of deal.

Anyone know the group members or anything about them. Are the groups on Keymen, Dore, Maverick and Imperial the same. Were Bob Relf & Earl Nelson in the group (they wrote and produced the Keymen single). Were there any other Keymen/Mirwood releases on DJM apart from the instrumental of this?
  3. There were only Jackie Lee and Olympics solo soul LPs on Mirwood. The Bob & Earls were two different ones on US Crestview the first of which contains My Little Girl and came out on B&C and Jay Boy. The second came out on Joy over here. I've found John Poole's details thanks.
  4. That sounds like a good lead. Can anyone help out with John Poole's contacts?
  5. I have spoke to Max and he recalls playing the vocal cica 71 of a single and remembers Bob Crocker and Alan S playing it a year or so before him Regards Chris W Thanks for that but it wasn't what I was after. I need to know in what format the instrumental was first played; US LP or Jay Boy single? Cheers Ady

Many old clubs n the 60s ended on Alan Haven's version of Hank Levine's (the one we played at early 6TS dances) 'Image' a slow film music type instrumental. But it was more of a mine sweeper or "last chance with the fanny" than a dancer.
  7. Was it first played from the Crestview LP, Jay Boy single or did Simon concoct a backing track acetate?

Someone paid well more than £500 a few months back!
  9. As far as I know it was an unreleased tape I put out on the "Spring Story" CD CDSEWD 103 you could get a dub done off that it's still available.

The one that makes me cringe is the spoken intro to Frankie & the Clasicals link
  11. Rummaging through my tax receipts for Bexter!
  12. Speaking of nurses uniforms, I've just been looking at Randy's cartoon starring Roger with Keb, Pete and Clarkie as Roger Rough & The Cream Puffs. Unfortunately it's not going into Vol 1 of the 6TS CDs so he'll have to pull through for Vol 2 which includes his DJing stint down the 100 Club. Get well mate. Ady
  13. No demos but a few while label test pressings on about 6 or 7 of them.
  14. I don't know percentages, it varies from contract to contract, I know some of the original artists we have contracted get anywhere from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.
  15. I'm glad Debra's getting some action, I thought it was as classy a record as say Ann Sexton. I also think the Johnnie Taylor/Judy Clay double sider deserves more attention. Garland Green is on Modern Masterpieces, I have very few spares though. It makes sense them fetching money, they are genuine short runs and usually the only time they get on vinyl. Kent tracks like the two OC Tolberts should also pick up in rarety.
  16. Sorry someone told me you'd been selling bootlegs of the Standing In The Shadows Of Motown DVD which I thought was incredible as the whole film is about how deserving black musicians were ripped off in the 60s. If there were boots of the DVD around then they were ripped off again by the very fans who are meant to respect them. I also heard that you'd defended your actions in the usual "poor little me" manner but perhaps I got it wrong. No reply to my points about your "dead artists" post?
  17. There's only you talking about dead people, most of the artists and many of the label owners are still alive and many benefit from a substantial royalty income. And if they were dead why shouldn't their next 0f kin get something from the great musical legacy they left behind them?
  18. With your sales of CDs and DVDs this dumb reaction comes as no great surprise.
  19. I just saw a list of some of the more recent or latest Goldmine CDs on Soul Talk and posted the following. "Not a surprise to see the latest Goldmine include several tracks where I know the owners haven't licensed the recordings out. Most of the rest are from small obscure indies where there's little chance of the owners taking any action if they ever got to hear about it. I know they don't have master tapes on the vast majority and this will screw up a lot of other more legitimate labels future plans. But what do they care, it's just a business; who's bothered about who owns the rights." Yes it does piss me off.
  20. It's main champion and spinner was fellow Sourcer Tony Ellis at Yate in the mid 70s.
  21. Sorry there were about 100 serious contenders to choose from and they didn't make the cut, but there are other similar items that I hope you'll like. I know we've got Daddy Cleanhead on an Ace CD and probably Bull Moose too. Go to www.acerecords.com and interogate the site.
  22. Its from 63 after Fire. I got mine from Danny Flash's on West Adams in LA in the mid 70s. I'm just writing the note to the 6TS Story Vol 1 and I remembered how we used to go down Gaz's (Mayall, John's son!) Rockin Blues club from 1980 onwards dancing to what we called black Rock and Roll. That's where things like Daddy Cleanhead 'Somethings Going On In My Room' and Bull Moose Jackson 'Big 10 Inch' came from and eventually got played at 6Ts evening dos.
  23. I get totally bollocked when the 100 Club's been showered in it and have to pay the cleaner extra as it's a sod to shift. Crazy Simon's great T-Shirt says it all NO TALC
  24. Funnily enough I'm going through all that stuff and found our flyer at the time also advertising it for you. I can't remember so I was probably there. Though it's a bit tough from a historical point of view, I've noticed we hardly ever advertised DJs. It kept them in their place, they were lucky to be allowed to DJ! I think it's a good reflection on their egos. They weren't Prima Donnas like some of the Northern super stars at the time. We were more "For the people, by the people".
