  1. Ty Karim was his wife at one time, Marcene was his sister and lead singer of the Harris Sisters on Capitol and Smash also known as Dimples Harris and half of husband and wife duo Harold & Dimples. It's not an expensive record but I could use a loan of it if it's in good condition. She did two on the label as Marcene and one as Dimples
  2. Dotto Got a scan but no disc, it was on Gaslight too, which would be OK in Ex nick. Ta Ady
  3. Bumpity bump Gotta be one out there somewhere. Ady
  4. While I'm at it, anyone got this baby? Ady
  5. A loan or sale would be handy. Ta Ady
  6. Can anyone loan us an Ex/M copy please? Heap plenty CDs to the kindly person. Ady ady.croasdell@btinternet.com
  7. Furys So Tuff/Over You (Pains In My Heart) 005 Wonder what 117 is?
  8. But he was one of the biggest liars known on the scene. He swore blind those counterfeits were all originals even when I pointed out they were pressed at the same factory. He ripped countless people off. Madelon said the opposite about their relationship. Randy died relatively recently ago, 10 years or so? I'll look it up.
  9. I'd go along with the Modern sides given that evidence but I know for a fact from meeting her and discussing it that he conned Madelon Baker out of the Audio Arts masters that he took. The Mirwoods from Randy Wood are illegal too. The Belles is the Mirettes with the wrong title and claiming to be a Soul Fox production and similar duplicity with the Jackie Lee I'll Do Anything; legal reissues don't change artist and title names. As far as I know none of those or any of his Mirwood hybrids were pressed using original stampers or at a pressing plant used by the label. The Northern scene's always been in two minds over Soussain, hating him for directly ripping them off on countless occasions and then buying his counterfeit pressings in the late 70s even after I'd told a lot of people on the scene they were boots with the same markings on the run-out groove. They paid £15 plus for them because they wanted to believe they were getting £100 records despite evidence to the contrary.
  10. Thanks Carl, a fantastic notion that I've played with many times but it would be very expensive with no guarantee of success and even if it was successful in Northern terms would lose a small fortune. It's the sort of thing a rich person would get a huge buzz from but we're in business in a shrinking market and need to concentrate on what we do best. Ady
  11. I'm far from being a soul policeman but I've never heard of anyone being criticised for playing a legal contemporary release of the original press. Most UK originals would be banned and records like Jimmy Robins on Jerhart, O'Kaysions on ABC, Rosco Robinson on Wand etc Ady
  12. I hope it's got a strong floor if you're dancing to those two!
  13. As I was told by Madelon Baker that he nicked some Audio Arts tapes from her in order to put out his instrumentals and later license on to Goldmine, it's not within the bounds of possibility that the same scenario could have happened there. I don't know either way. Pete's alright, I don't think he'll suffer too much mental anguish over the thread.
  14. It's also on a couple of CDs and there is an alternate version coming on the forthcoming Fame Box set. there was never an original acetate that I know of. I made acetates or carvers for Roger Banks and possibly Hoss. Glad you like it, there's a bit in the middle when it goes from very fast to G force.
  15. Thanks John, good info though some bits are a bit confusing, especially the journey from Texas to Philly which he said was south; that's the long way!
  16. Yeah that does sound odd, like a photocopy or scan of an original.
  17. I'm not sure Soussain would break the habits of a lifetime
  18. It's on the Kent CD Double Cookin' so could be played off that! (I know )
  19. PIED PIPER AT THE 100 CLUB Pt2 Following on from our 32nd anniversary debut of the September Jones and Cavaliers tracks, we are proud to announce that new discoveries from the vaults of Pied Piper Productions will be played this Saturday Oct 29th at the all nighter. New finds include the original version of Tony Hester's 'Just Can't Leave You' Karate 45, it's called 'Love Will Find A Way' by Harry Gates. There is a different recording of Lorraine Chandler's You Only Live Twice with alternate lyrics, lead vocal and song construction. Also the original version of 'I Miss My Baby' by Detroit session singer Telma Hopkins recorded a year before Rose Batiste's release with different lyrics and titled 'This Heart Is Lonely' and a stunning Pied Piper instrumental of the recently massive discovery 'Gambler's Blues'. More finds are imminent but these four in conjunction with the September Jones and Cavaliers, should make it a historical and memorable occasion. Ady Croasdell
