  2. HI thanks for providing or should I say showing me were to find the info, as it goes I have all the releases, except 1, Patrice Holloway Love & Desire, most are demos once again many thanks DAVE K
  3. HI ALL..I used to have a complete listing for all the EMI LABELS 45's for SOUL SUPPLY & DISCOTEQUE 66, 67 SERIIES, NOW LONG GONE! Has any one got a coy of the list that I can have, also any info on the story behind the series? and any memorabilia associated with the releases? a big ask, but will pay for any real obscure stuff, DAVE K
  4. HI ALL the only thing I have is 2 pages, if you get your copy I would love a copy of the full article, been looking for years DAVE K
  5. HI ALL....Did we not discuss JOHN FORD, Just a few months back?? As to value the DEMO falls into a)finding a copy that's gonna b passed on, b)demand is far greater than virtually all other UK ONLY RELEASES, c)it's a trade only 45 in my book, as cash does not always buy things you want. How rare is rare? well it took MICK SMITH a long time, that is my bench mark to work off, as he has top contacts, Pete's values are out of date and I am sure at auction he would get far more today, however someone out in SOULSOURCE WORLD could be lucky as not every one is aware of it's low known numbers, if I got rid of my demo, I would want an issue plus cash or a trade, if pushed cash value £500+ DAVE K
  6. HI ALL... Sounds good to me MISTER! Have collected rare soul since 1967, main focus has been 6t's soul, reggae 67-73, Blues R&B FUNK PHILLY MOTOWN CHICARGO LA WASHINGTON DC LOCAL LABEL SOUL (FROM ABOVE & BELOW THE MASON DIXON LINE MEMPHIS NEW ORLEANS, BOOGIE WOOGIE, NEW YORK ITALIAN, MIAMI, BALI=TIMORE KANSAS CITY. RURAL & URBAN BLUES, & Much much more main interest is finding and discovering soul & northern dancers on UK LABELS, ESPECIALLY DEMOS, WHAT I DOONT KNOW MY MATES ROY PETE & MICK DO PM ME AT THE RIGHT HOOK CLUB, UPSTAIRS IN THE SPARE BEDROOM AS ALWAYS DAVE K
  7. HI ALL Just a thought about the 28 day rule, does this apply when you buy at ALL-NIGHTERS DAVE K
  8. HI ALL The DE-HEMS on President I have a spare issue some place, I remember when the President Record warehoused closed I had many odd records, I was told every thing was there still in 25 copy boxes except for Ray Merrel all gone, I had 10 copy's of ERNIE & ED JAY OY DAVE
  9. Hi All, As a collector of SOUL MUSIC on 1st issue UK & US Original's, if I have not got a certain record & it needs a new home? I will buy it at a price that I think it's worth, However, many collectors these days, do not want to achieve a full collection of records, it seams to me that many records are more of an investment for a time when they need some cash, or to settle a devoice, there have been loads off records mugged of a collector in a spiteful state of revenge, Many records today are in decent condition, and hardly these days do I see NOC WOL VG- SKIPS FC TL, Bogy in grooves, were have they are they in 2013? there are to be honest not many mint records in my collection, and I bet there are not many in yours, the word MINT is a salesman speak for I am a greedy C**T so I will charge you more 25% more for calling a ex record a MINT one, to be fair I have only received not many records (under20) that were not up to scratch (pun intended) most dealers are ok Mick Smith gives a great deal, Butch & BigTim from Soul on Spoon Ranking Johnny Boy is top for real minters, I just want rare records cheap, Wavy DAVY K
  10. Hi ALL IF I WAS GOING TO SELL MY COLLECTION (i'm not) iT WOULD BE TO A DEALER AS A NO SPLIT DEAL, OR INVITE ALL INTERSTED TO A AUCTION, HIRE A ROOM FOR 3 HOURS AND DO THE BUSINESS MY COLLECTION IS IN MY WILL, FOR MICK SMITH TO SORT OUT, SO WHY NOT CONTACT MICK? DAVE
  11. HI ALL STATIC, As you are aware static is either +/- in structure (atoms) all man made materials like plastic attract a positive reaction to a magnetic field, remember making a balloon stick to a wall, by running it one way on your school jumper? well that's the same principle of what happens with your records, as they play in one direction only the pick up an electric charge we call static, also when we clean a record we might make it shine but unless you have not used a anti static fluid at the end of the cleaning, you record will attract all the griff back. MY TIP, if you tap the record, it will disperse the atoms in all directions, so avoiding dust, also use a anti static polish in and around your record room and on your deck, AS ALWAYS DAVE Hi I forgot to say, "tell him to F OFF", Dthe DRUG
  12. HI YES INDEED, In the case Poppy Show the title is on the blank from DYNAMICS, NOT 100% but did this come out on JA TIGER? You may need a magnifying glass to read it! as I suffer from BLOCK EYE (to many Freddie MILLS & to many ALL NIGHT events causes this) Can I recommend to you on MAGNET RECORDS mago53-A WINSTON FRANCIS "RUN SAD SAP" Vocally inspired by ANDY CAPP, You can get one for a £5, RECOMENDED TIP TOP DAVE K
  13. HI TOADY BOY, I LIKE THE VOCALS MATE, BUT THEY DON'T FIT IN WITH MY COLLECTION OF RECORDS THAT I HEARED IN THE YEARS 69 72, NOT UNTIL THE 80S DID I GET A COPY ON DOWNTOWN, WHICH I GAVE AWAY?
  14. HI ALL YOU POP A TOPERS/ RYTHM BASED AROUND DERRICK MORGANS FAT MAN, ENGINEERD REMAKE OF THE TUNE BY ANDY CAPP, PIONEERING USE OF THE DUB EFFECT, MANY VERSIONS OF THE ORIGANAL 4 MIXES HAVE BEEN DONE OVER THE YEARS, HOWEVER TO GET INTO THE GROOVE YOU MUST HAVE A COPY OF FAT MAN DERICK MORGAN, ANDY CAPP POP A TOP TREASURE ISLE, DERICK POP THE TOP UNITY , VERSION 3 POPPY SHOW ANDY CAPP DUKE 71, THERE ARE A FEW MORE ESSENTIAL VERSIONS TO ADD, BUT THESE ARE THE ONES I ORIGANALY HAD IN 1970 HOPE THIS HELPS DAVE
  15. Hi Pete give me 30 mins
  16. HI ALL If you were to ask most people who were about in 69, to name 10 Reggae records I bet this UPSETTERS record would be in the TOP 3? GREAT RECORD, However check these 2 out HOW RARE? DAVE
  17. HI GOT ANY BRITISH TO TRADE? DAVE K
  18. HI ALL POWER EXCHANGE is a good label to collect, as all releases are eclectic & varied forms of BLACK MUSIC (w=ith 1 or 2 exceptions). PETES RECORD is without doubt one of the labels rarest, that's not to say it is the best, it all depends on you music pallet, most people of a certain age! probably bought ANN BYERS Version of "this man is rated-X" which was played at most venues in 1974, LOUIS PRIMA "Doing it for sugar" is a nice oldie, as is the DISCO FAVE from SOUL FOOD "Tom the peeper's brother John". Records by 13 AMP, The O'JAYS are average no more than label fillers if you ask me? But by far the best is the 2 sider SOUL RECORD by BILLY COLE the top side A "Extra careful girl" a great song that had plays and much sort after 10 years ago, fetching £50, today an issue is about £20 tops, if you just play that side? the B side is PURE FUNK and is much sort after in LONDON in the BLACK COMMUNITY, if you have the record please play the B side "BUMP ALL NIGHT" what a great record for £20 should be £50 any day, POWER EXCHANGE RECORD LABEL has always been quite easy to collect DEMOS are common add a £5, also releases with blank labels, PETES RECORD Is compared with other releases except BILLY COLE much sort after and never turns up, current value £60+ DAVE K
  19. HI ALL NICE ONE PETE the ACCITATE you mentioned was not bad at all, If it is the one MICK played a couple of years agoDON CHARLES IS MY FAVE. BENJI I AGREE with your point of view and as such the matter is closed on this one< at least for the time being, Also I am sure their are more versions of this classic (DRIFTER) STILL GETTIN ON THE GOOD FOOT DAVE K
  20. Hi Benji Don't get upset mate! My info is spurious as I said, did not think it would make you p***ed off? or did you just get out of the wrong side of the bed? there are a few UK RECORDINGS DRIFTER, most are worth getting, DAVE K
  21. Hi Benji that's right a provoking piece by Alan (Fluff) Freeman, you answer does not clarify my point, I do agree it's a spurious attempt by my self to rattle the cage, but as yet no one has proved that this did not happen? Dave
  22. Hi All If your record is Hissy put a 2p coin on your pick up head shell start from the centre run deck backwards 3 or 4 times, this does work now & again, As stated poor needle set up is 100% the only cause for this, Many years ago a very young John Weston was DJing next day he played his records and they were all wrecked by not checking the needle set up? if DJ ing take your own head shells to avoid this happening to your dustys, DAVE K
  23. HI ALL What you mean "nonsense" Bengi,? Where do you say they were recorded? I would be very interested in finding out the real truth behind these 2 classics. Carl Douglas" Serving a sentence" UA / OKeh
  24. HI ALL JUST FOR THE RECORD???? I DON'T PAY WHITE MAILERS! OR BLACKMAILERS????DAVE K
