  1. HI TONY Yes indeed he did, in-fact he Dave Barker, Laural Aikin, & PAMA DICE were behind a lot of records that were recorded, in LONDON, that have become SKINHEAD CLASSICS, So it's the London sound, not the JA sound that rules?? DAVE PS. This is one of the 1st events that ANDREW from Notts put on, the Art Work is by "old school Jim" aka JIM SILES My close friend and part of "skinflint productions" "more than skin deep" & "the SPIRIT of 69" NICE POSTER FOR YOUR WALL, Any copies that are sold, will cost you £1K or public humiliation? I kid not! DAVE
  2. HI ALL....IF you have stopped selling records, as I have (almost)? after a while you get around to rediscovering it , the record I have got for you to-night has 2 excellent sides, my fave side is "love made me blue" but the chosen side is a Funk organ number, this sort of record is for the purest of you, who can get into the groove thang! and almost a dead cert, this is will grow on you if it' be to you. On the SHARP RECORDS - RUSS LEWIS - "BRAND NEW RECIPE - 6040 B. Rated **** Value £? can't remember so £25? I hope you like the organ in this, as it's supreme stuff DAVE https://youtu.be/EBXumFnw69Q
  3. Little boy blue also , Dice the boss, Pama dice, king horror & so on, as for Lord TOAD, it's possible that the sound disc just listed 1 side so it was renamed as DANCE BEAT, BLUES DANCE, BLUE BEAT, SKANK, RUM RYTHM, COKE RYTHM TENG & many more you do a stregato let the action begin with Lady O nice! Admiral DAVE sharper than a razor blade, so cough if you wanna get off
  4. HI ALL.......Not quite sure what you mean as your question is followed by your answer? however if you want to know if it's ok! to buy from, well 100% all items are packed and dispatched very fast, many bargains on the drop down auction and in his stock, main auction all depends on how much you want something, as it's very rare that any thing slips through these days, mind you i am no big fan of auctions DAVE
  5. HI ALL..Just to point out, that many mistakes were deliberate, as often the record was released in this country twice, B&C/TROJAN & PAMA INT, or a different cut, however also to be considered, is that at the record companies, in typical Jamaican style the info was shortened & misspelled, as many people who worked in UK pressing plants did not understand patwa yet alone when written down, it's has led us to some wonderful titles from the time, so there's just 2 of many issues to consider? Sir DAVE
  6. HI ALL, They say that every good soul night, a classic record from Chicago must be played? normally it would be Major Lance Billy Butler, But from me I have picked this class record, The Knights - "I got a feeling" - USA RECORDS, Rated ***** Value £100, Enjoy Dave https://youtu.be/mBj7n6ieTNU
  7. HI ALL...HERES A GOOD ONE? Yes indeed, for those of you that love 6T's SOUL, this is one of the best examples to have, and with it's hard to find tag, it's has every thing in place to call it a rare soul record :-HIGHLAND RECORDS - JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON -WAIT A MINUTE BABY - #1159 DEMO Rated by me as *****. Value £££s I don't no?. but it's a tuff one to find, with it's "wade in the water" sound. enjoy DAVE https://youtu.be/daNedAS3i5o
  8. HI PETE......Nice one, and another MEMORY LANE find, I had a few excellent bargains from them,DEAN JONES DEMO £5. "soft walk-in" TOTO PIC SLEEVE £10, JIMMY THOMAS DEMO £20, & many records for under £5, If you look again at my posting, you will see that I put RN in it, this refers to one of my favourite collectors, who's knowledge on soul music facts is outstanding. I'm talking about Roger Nichols from Willingly, Roger gave me a box of rare 45s to sell, all quality & all rare, in the box was OLE-9 on a blue press, I had the box for about 6 weeks, I met Mick at the services on the M6 & showed him the box, (now we go back many years, and most records I have sold mick have always been at the same price I got them for, and he did the same in return, remember the day you wanted the Screamin Jay Hawkins DECCA DEMO, that I got of Mick? that was a typical deal) when it come to putting a price on the record I said £200, he thought about it, but turned it down, I assumed he thought I had to have got it for £100 and that I had marked it up??? I think you had just moved back from Kent, just a few moths later, and I bet Roger had sold it to John, as he had got a few thousand from him, Now I was told Mick had paid £400 for a copy, but your selling price seems to be what a dealer would pay, but if both records are the same record it means you mugged him or Mick mugged himself, only if it's the same record, I won't tell him! DAVE
  9. HI ALL Today's record of the Day, I got from Mr Dave Welding (Top midlands collector,DJ & rack jobber) It's one of those rare R&W DEMOS, that we all have? don't we? CAPITAL RECORDS UK CL15469, The THRILLS - "WHAT CAN GO WRONG" - RATED***** Value£ This record should get played, by me? (contact my agent Ricky Star), for a 1966 B side record it's long SIT BACK & ENJOY DAVE https://youtu.be/YOgkYrl4DMg
  10. HI ALL..I HAVE STILL GOT A COPY. in-fact I have 2 as it come out on Gapevine, However I still call all records like this as Northern Soul, not funky modern xover the road with a chicken and then ask why? dave
  11. HI ALL After spending 30 minutes writeing about 4 of jackies early records and some history, the most thing I hate on a PC had to happen? jost as I was going to po.......................................... st it vanishes? never to be found? DAVE
  12. HI ALL I have only just read this excellent post, why I had not done so before?? it's got info that i did not no? i am lost for words? fantastic and emotional as always DAVE KILWORTH
  13. HI ALL.... Here is a record that I found way back in the mid 7t's at DAVIDS BOOKSHOP, LETCHWORTH, And at the time I felt it was the Dog;s my exclusive, worth many ££££ oh yes, then as it goes after a come down? not quite the record that I thought it was 24 hours ago, around 1996 I discovered the record at a car boot sale, it seemed to be unknown, 5 years ago and I saw many copies priced at £5 - £10, was it ever played?? I was even going to cover it up as Kenny Lynch! To-day I still play it as such and it's a great example of the CHICARGO SOUND that was so popular in Jamaica in the mid-6t's DOMA RECORDS- CURTIS SMITH- "I LIKE EVERY THING ABOUT YOU" - 101B. RATED ***+ Value £10, enjoy DAVE https://youtu.be/w5ZmCawBUtQ
  14. HI I did not know it existed on BLACK that would be a lot rarer? and more £££££ to this rare record? DAVE PS THE ABC 45...Any one got a copy to sell me please? anouther classic.
  15. HI AND THANKS SOULSORCE at it's best, very best, yes that's the one and it would be my record of the day, but as I don't have it, I will make a differant choice, this as far as I no is far more rarer than most records that fetch over the £500 mark, I remember £25 on00 a list in 85 I offerd a copy to Mick S for £200 12 years back, he declined that copy got £400, for RN. AGAIN THANKS for posting this classic of the RARE SOUL SCENE DAVE
  16. HI ALL...Just been looking at the RARESOULMANS AUCTION, When I saw a ICEMEN 45, a great record, however the group did several great records, the one I am interested in come out on blue vinyl only? but I can't remember the title at all, as they did record good soul any chance that someone can give some info about them, and if possible try to put the record that I am trying to remember up? DAVE
  17. HI ALL Reguarding the chart, I posted as the first SOUL CHART, was there was no previous weeks entry? and for a UK SHOP LIST, not a cut out of a paper job, I rate it as the first?? I was going to put more up, but was watching TV? but I will add these, the record world is a trade mag, I have 20 from 66 - 70 also top adds, DAVE
  18. This has nothing to do with JACKIE EDWARDS? however on EBAY this morning there was a Ken Lazourus? "the RECORD" on WIRL for the buy it now price of just £6 the banner lists HOLIDAY if you want it, VG, But a real good record is the record? DAVE
  19. SSSSHHHHHH PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING, However DAVE the DRUG wants to add this one? In 1970, when this 45 was released, FREDA PAYNE was hit ing the TOP with BAND OF GOLD, And I no what I was doing on the very day it was released???? I had 2 days & a breakfast to go, and freedom, from DC (They should bring it back, to-day kids realy could not hak DC or BORSTAL) TRUE! This Jackie Edwards is very typical of him, but is so 69 and TWEEE, but there is something special to it, thats why I can recomend, uptempo with a few chimes, value £5 but I have not found a issue? £10 for DEMO, it is far removed from to-days scene, in other words it's not a DISCO chune, "turn the beat around? come on and jump to the beat" styleee? you will have to search for a sound file? DAVE
  20. HI ALL JUST LOOKING THROUGH THE CBS 45s, and after reading the JM Review, I had to dig it out, play it, the that led onto the Johnny Howard version and the ISLAND classic by ROLY POLY, EVERY COPY IS GOOD AND ALL HAVE THERE UNIQUENESS? MONGO SANTSMARIA - EL PUSSY CAT - CBS 201766 - 1964. 100% MOD. Rated ***** Value £ (let's wait and see?) A record to keep if you ask me? ENJOY THIS? DAVE [media=]https://youtu.be/S4R1Z7xkm1g
  21. HI ALL BOULEVARD RECORDING STUDIO. 632 N. DEARBORN CHICARGO 111, Was so unimportant with old 5T's recording equipment and in a poor run down state, they did not have a pressing plant outlet to use in any shape or form, apart from knocking out 1 offs as accitates for very few people, they survived just into the 7T's by doing tailor made Radio jingles, it seems that the glory days from the 5T's & early 6T's when they had connections with vee-jay were just a dream? and that's that, I wish I had found more info connecting this dump for you, there aint no real history to tell? DAVE
  22. If you can hum it Carl it may be the BEAS on PAMA??, DAVE K
  23. HI CHALKY Many many thanks to your self, for making this available to SOULSOURCE, I owe you one DAVE
  24. HI ALL well an operation as big as EBay is impossible to POLICE, in-fact they make that clear right from the start, that the EBay community is responsible for how the sight runs, which is on trust, amazing when you think how well it does run itself, I am sure there is some bidding up on certain items that are in the auction? just the same as there is at a public auction, however some sellers use a starting price to secure the item, however, many items have starting prices that are more like ending prices, this is done from being greedy and hoping to mug someone, or by thinking they have golddust, good sellers get the good deals, however as I do not sell stuff I would like to get a fair price for a item, so would I get someone to put a bid on to cover it? what do think? DAVE
  25. Hi all As I like to have information on most things that are important? going through my ephemera, I spotted this chart? As the 6T's POP charts pre 67 were made up? especially the PIRATE RADIO STATIONS Charts, the chart below seems to be the very 1st SOUL CHART,as it measures 12" x 5" and is original not a copy, has any one got an early example predating this one? PS:+ I have changed the color of it, as this is the original, and as such to keep it's value, however you can still download it. DAVE
