  1. HI The best one I have seen was back in 1971 in SOHO a ROLLS belonging to the infamouse Mary Millington out side the Paul Raymond Review Club (Strip Club) and we actually saw Mary drive of in it , with all the young mans banter we could give her, the # was FU2 The worst was at CLEATHORPS ALL NIGHTERS I cant remember what the car was but the # was R1KE5 or simular (TW*T) Cheers Dave60
  2. HI As a record buyer, if I have made a complaint, which is twice in 10 years, I have made contact with the seller and got my refund, that's what we all expect? however this buyer is not me! when I receive a 45 from anyone, I always give it a clean first, survey no matter what the seller states, for all I no he could have picked his nose, ass or scratched his balls, many a time I have come across a hard body or as you northerners say a crow, anyway you should always clean a record before playing it yes, actually sometimes i forget, tonight I have had 2 records jump on the intro WATCH OUT GIRL the HOLIDAYS & A REGGEA 45 SISTER BIG STUFF DANNY RAYMOND BIG SHOT, BOTH RECORDS ATE EX+. MY POINT BEING IS THIS IF A RECORD JUMPS, YOU WILL NOTICE IT AS SOON AS IT JUMPS! SO FOR MOST RECORDS THATS 180 SECONDS, ONCE YOU CLEAN IT AND ON INSPECTION YOU FIND A SCRATCH OR ANYTHING THAT CANT BE CLEANED, YOU CAN SCAN IT SEND A EMAIL 24 7 AND REQUEST A REFUND? This jeepstar has taken far to long for my liking, check out his history, and what he played the record on, how many times and so on, Grill him and give him a polite note about we don't give refunds after 48 hours, for used records socks a skids, in other words send the boys round with the message, I do very good rates, tell him to naff off your name is Hunt not (****) DAVE60

  6. Hi All This is a question , that often baffles me, my issue is why do some of the TOP Rare soul records, seem to be owned by people, who show no interest in records that have real quality but because they are under £30, the people in question do not want them, & have no desire to own them? About 2 years ago I was talking to a very well known member of the Rare Soul Scene, who enjoys being invited to DJ at the top soul venues, he buys and sells soul records, when I stated that he must have about almost everything in his collection, his reply could have knocked me over, he stated "no far from it, all the vinyl I have is in my DJ BOX" it would seem, to me that in this case, more emphasis was placed on being a top DJ, now I no this person has a great love for all soul, and freely admits that his collection of CDs covers 1000's of soul records, that he loves but would not DJ with, I could empathies to a point with this, as it took me back to the days when most people would take there record box to All Nighters with there best sounds in, to swap some for new records and just to show others what good records they had, but that for me was the early days of collecting, As I have many soul records I clearly fall into the collector groove. However I follow the poignant words of one of the pioneers of the rare soul scene PEP, when I once asked him about an obscure British Northern Dancer, he replied "I collect Rare Soul, I'm not a stamp collector" these words had an impact on myself, and also gave me self control over what I collected, So today when I tell people I have nearly finished my UK collection, it does not mean that I have all the nearly made it records, it means I have all the recognized UK releases from Stateside CBS to Doctor Bird,? It still baffles me that labels Like Direction Label has records that are unknown to people who own £1000 Records? DAVE60
  7. HI ALL What a good interview I Just wonder if those Southerners he talks about, were Mick Smith Ady Crosdale Pete Wid & me as he bought records it would be good if he spent a night at the 100 Club, of corse I wont be there as he avioded the subject of chemicals? Wise MAN! Dave60
  8. Martyn trying to locate the Q back then was a very hard for me I did not see it on lists, I eventually got a copy of some bloke who was after some Billy? along with the VOWS TELL ME VIP TOMMY GOOD CAN TAMLA and about 20 pressings, he seemed very pleased with the gram, I am sure that he was to far gone to realise what he was doing? then again compared with today most record boxes that the dancers had always had some thing in them, and often I would see something rare in a box as k how much are your records they would say some price, And I would say I will give you £20 for the box it was like taking candy from a baby, and better still if they wanted some billy as what was on offer was usually crap, most people who got it from me cut it half to sell and get there money back? DAVE 60
  9. Hi All All the Red FAME records are proper, unless it has been recently copied? the Blue & Gold Boot has always puzzled me as the sound quality is as good as the Red Copy? and a lot of trouble went into it compared to records that were booted at the same time, WHY? I have no idea but I have often wondered if it is a legit 2nd press rather than a boot, because of this, Does anyone no the full story DAVE 60
  10. Hi All this is one of the best records that I first got when I started to collect properly and one of the first that I got from John Anderson SOUL BOWL, It was huge in 73/74 in the midlands played by PEP, the yellow issue is very rare, also got Little Carl Carlton "nothing no Sweeter" Goldern World DEMO at the same time, which is also rare as a yellow issue?? DAVE 60
  11. Hi All this is one of my FAVE RAVE tunes from WIGAN, on HOUND Records the Q "thats the way" A great Records, You must agree? DAVE 60 https://youtu.be/Vgf9n2_2gGs
  12. Hi Martyn I got my copy from Butch as with most of my US records come to me cheap this was £15 from dealers that I have respect for, I just estimate the price, next week I will put on a record that sold for £1k in Leeds 5 years ago Rob Pheasant payed a few hundred £££s for cost me £20 from BUTCH?? laters DAVE
  13. HI ALL Heres anouther nice pick from my US collection, This tune has all the righ qualitys for dancing to and the hallmarks of a northern Soul Classic1 released on the ALTEEN Label byDRAKE & THE ENSOLIDS - "PLEASE LEAVE ME"...Value £100 DAVE, https://youtu.be/eCNzUE1PoCI HOPE YOU LIKE IT?
  14. HI ALL This is a great one to have, I am not sure if it still gets a spin, it should do? most records on this label BLUE ROCK are quite easy to get hold of, however out of the few BLUE ROCK records I still have, this is a bit harder. CYNTHIA & the IMAGINATIONS - HEY BOY (I LOVE YOU) - BLUE ROCK B04074 VALUE £80+ may be more I am not 100% sure? DAVE This is my copy, https://youtu.be/a1K5IoXQ9Us
  15. Hi Criss...Yes it looks the Dog's in my opinion, however my 1st copy had NOC cost me £5, i swapped it for the one in the post +£5. in saying that apart from the Jon Ford they are not valued above £20, I could give loads of example like Lada Edmond Jr La Rue UK MCA DEMO, it may be quite easy now, but is in fact the rarest of the 6 Norther Soul records from the mid 70's however due to demand, RUBIN is more wanted, and it probably is elusive to many collectors to-day? cheers DAVE
  16. HI ALL All 4 of these UK DEMOS, eluded me for years, The rarest Jon Ford I got at least 20 years before I got the Archie Bell Demo? Sometimes records no matter how easy or how hard to locate, does not always go to plan in many cases the rarer a record is the more likely it will be offered for sale, in the days before the Internet, & RECORD COLLECTOR records like Jimmy Conwell were indeed hard to find, as were most rare UK northern dancers? DAVE
  17. HI PETE I wish it was as easy as you say it is, as my life on the net would be 100% better if I could grasp these basic stuff, I agree that once you reach a certain level of achievement you will challenge yourself to achieve more, and with experience, most challenges in life are achievable, however if you don't understand the basics it becomes a problem to solve, I am sure if some of the basics of this new tech was observed by myself , I would master it, maybe you need a clear mind at the start is the answer, is there any sights were you can observe how to set up and record audio? as I have the equipment, DAVE
  18. HI ALL THIS IS A CLASSIC FROM OUT OF MY, A US RECORD FROM ME TO-DAY NOT SURE! BUT I THINK IT WAS A BLACKPOOL MECCA SOUND, IT'S IN MY TIP-TOP 500 NORTHERN SOUL US LIST? LEE ROGERS "MY ONE AND ONLY!- D-TOWN 1062 VALUE O DUNNO HOW MANY £'S AS THE LABEL USED TO BE EASY TO FIND, A BIT LIKE RIC-TIC HOWEVER IT'S A GOOD UN! CHEERS DAVE
  19. HI ALL i WILL ADMIT IT. I WATCHED IT RIGHT THROUGH,!! WAS THIS THERE 1ST LIVE APERANCE ON TOTP, OR DID THE SUPERLOVE COME OUT 1sr? There is no need to give me any info, about this band, whuch is or was at the tume a real hate!!, I suppose in some warped world of a quantum existancwm a bit like the TATE & LYLE LOGO with the BEES nesting in the body of a dead lion, with the words out of the strong comes sweetness, or simular, My hate stems from the apperance on TOTP on the 7.30 pm slot after TOMORROWS WORLD,THE following SATURDAY NIGHT, AFTER driving up from north herts, because of all the little kiddies that Mike WALKER let in, he told me that the place was full and I could not come in following a talk with him that started with NORTHERN and ended wth a 4 letter word . I got in. i WONDER HOW MAN PEOPE ON THIS SITE OWN UP AND SAY WHY DID THEY GO, THAT WEEKEND? MY LAPTOP IS PLAING UP SO I WILL LEAVE IT WITH THAT QUESTION WERE YOU ONE OF THE GROUP OF KIDS WHO FELL A SLEEP AND CAUSED MANY REGULARS PROBLEMS? DAVE
  20. HI PETE Well the truth is yes asI would proberbly Dead years ago! and if you dont understand my rambles, it would be like me saying you have never been to an all nigter, so pray please tell me what part gives you problems, is above 25% or less??
  21. HI to both of you, so on this example it really seams to be common sense, in recent times would you believe that I have seen the copy on the right sell for over £50? as to my eyes, it does not look as good as the one on the left and the sound although very good just don't sound as crisp to what we agree is the 1st cut, as you say they are both originals, other records give me the same sort of problem. Like Van Mccoy Sweet n easy, most copies that I have seen over the many years are Blue with SHARE in silver, and the Dave Godin pick by the AD LIBS nothing worse than being alone is on the nice colorful SHARE label, now I have Sweet n easy on both labels I don't think it makes any difference to the price but the colorful label is far less common, as yet I can't recall seeing the AD LIBS on the Blue & Silver? I suspect the Blue & Silver is the 1st and the colored one used once a record reaches more sales or one is East Coast & the other is West Coast, again this is just an example, but I really don't no the answer, and would a copy of the AD LIBS be worth more on the Blue & Silver label??? CHEERS DAVE K
  22. HI STEVE & CHEERS, you are dead right with the A side, I chose China Gate, for 2 reasons over the A side #1 it is a record that on the first time of hearing it, you get instantly taken to old CHINA TOWN, along with all the trimmings of an old black white Hollywood B rated movie coolie's Sampans junks & rickshaws (I had a mate called Rich Shaw) it's a classic hook for any one who likes good music, #2 the A side is more of a stomper as you say, and I was looking just a bit more deeper with the B side. How does it go "Saturday night after the movies" "we are going to the TWISTED WHEEL" Great club sounds on 1 record, just maybe worth a bit more than my estimate of £20 for the DEMO, DAVE SORRY NO SOUND CLIP
  23. Hi All this is my reply to why my posts are so full of energy and crap, I care that you care, so here is a bit of explanation As high as 25% pleases me, for this reason, As a kid I was very waywood and resented authority, it was not until 10 years ago I found out I was dyslexic, as a kid to avoid some of the educational ways that were the norm in the 50's & 60's I would play up the teachers rotten, back then I would rather get the slipper or the cane in front of the class or at the morning assembly, when I started Secondary School this issue was the bane of my life, many times in many subjects, I approached subjects and issues in a latural way rather than the standard liner style, remember back then you were taught by going over &over things again & again, as I had a good memory and good at problem solving (good at math), at exam times I was never below 5th in the class, this p***ed of the teachers, as I would truant from school most of the week, but out shine the kids who attended all the time, As I got more out of control and being from a 1 parent family, I became very skillful at stealing and telling lies, also become unpredictable by the time I was 12 I got expelled for stabbing a teacher, the year before I shot a 17 year old in the temple with a harpoon, from that time on I was in kids homes in the north, this experience was to make me street wise, I was a constant run away and landed up at all the major town & Cities in England, it is scary to think how dangerous it all was, and also how the country has changed since then as no alerts were put out, and when the police picked me up! i was aware that when I got back to the home I would get a really hard beating. but that did not bother me, by the time I left school for me to spend a night out in SOHO was nothing, in 68 I was typical of many kids of that time and followed the violent types that attended my Football team West Ham United as such the youth culture that emerged from the ground soon spread and I was your typical Bovver Boy, but one of those who never ran away, adding to the fact that I first started using Amphetamine's at 15, you get what you see on these pages 40 years on, My poor English has baffled most! as I write more a less as I speak, as such many times I will write about whats in my head than what most people are used to, getting to the point as quick as you can, if any one cant follow my posts or I deviate away to much. PLEASE SAY as I prefer people who are open with there views rather than people who patronise me, as I have a high IQ, and have lots of life experience that could help many younger people, especially in the treatment of chemical dependency issues, to conclude I am a qualified counsellor counselling supervisor, and a teacher in adult education not to bad, but ill health has made me broke in the last 2 years this means I have to take 10 different types of meds a day including 10 Dex so that also can make my posts hedonistic. DAVE the BLADE,
  24. HI HARRY I have all the UK LP & EPs that were issued, on the monthly sheets that were issued to Record Shops in the 60's I will have a gander through as it also give track listings. a good resource if you want to find something, I will see what I can Find for you, DAVE K
  25. Hi All This is one of the classic records on the UK Acton Label, and a rare example of a skeleton A DEMO, very hard to find under £100 these days Below is one of the most popular records that got a UKK release. sold so many copies it could have been a top 5 hit, however the sales of this record were never recognised as it sold poorly in London DAVE
